Overall a really nice guy, but the material is very difficult and he often confuses you trying to explain. You have to ask for help if you are struggling.

He was an okay professor. Though if you plan to take the course, GO TO THE MRC. A lot of the time you will be struggling with the lessons but he does give some good advice. He does go over the homework albeit 3 or 4 but one wrong answer results in a point lost and his tests are HARD. I barely made it out alive in that class.

If you take this class, you will learn a lot if you watch the YouTube videos your textbook provides. Dr. Johnson does teach well but you cannot rely on what you learn in class to pass the exams.

Comment:

Johnson is a really nice guy, he's funny at times and tries to be as cool as a 70 something guy can be, but he does NOT explain things well. Sometimes he'll take an entire class period to do a problem and realizes at the end of class that he messed up in the beginning and that the entire problem is wrong. Then we'll run out of time.

Dr Johnson is an amazing teacher. He always answers questions and doesn't move on until the concept is understood. provides lots of outside help and multiple study sessions. class is by no means easy and requires lots of studying and practice. would recommend taking class with him! =)

Though Dr. Johnson is a very nice man, I would not reccomend taking his class! His test questions are completely different from what he prepared us for in class and what's in the book. The test questions might as well be new material as we never learned how to do those problems. I've never done poorly in a class until this one :(

Oh, my. Abstract Algebra is a hard class - and Dr. Johnson doesn't make it any easier. He's a super-nice guy, but is very unclear in explaining how to do the proofs. Also..I mean, come on - Abstract Algebra isn't exactly the most exciting thing...and he definitely lowers the excitement level a couple notches. Good luck if you have this class!

all around..not a bad guy...but not a great teacher, however, he's willing to help with questions you have and actually cares about your grades. he tries his best to make sure everyone understands, but he is VERY BORING. and sticks to a very tight schedule with no room for anything.
