Very prof. Knows it stuff and to give it over. Read before, read after and take only the notes you need, don't have to write the all time. fair in his Tests, fair in his grading. Easy and instructive upper core in Brooklyn College. Nice person and very helpful

You don't always have to do the readings but they help. Take lots of notes, write down what he says, memorize it and you'll get an A. The tests aren't that tough. On the first test, nobody got lower than an 80.

I like prof. Helfand as a person, he's a really nice guy. But as a professor, he is always late, and his tests are very, very hard. He gave us a make-up test to make up for our poor mid-term grades. A nice guy but believe it or not, this class isn't easy.
