To keep it brief, Professor Kalkhoff is one of the best professors I have ever had. He is an insanely smart dude and his lectures will actually provoke you to think! His tests are literally based off of the lecture handouts. Study those and you WILL do well. attendance not mandatory, but he will use clickers in class that will track participation.

One of the best professors I have had at Kent. Genuinely tries to make it enjoyable and the tests aren't bad as long as you go to class and the reviews. Easy points from the clicker questions and attendance.

In our class he made 25% of our grade just participation in class. As long as you attend lectures and pay attention there is no way to not receive an A in this course. He respects his students and goes out of him way to help them. Best class I have taken at KSU. DONT BUY THE BOOKS.

Enjoyable class to be in. Not really my favorite topic, but there was no real homework except to study for the exams. Lots of in-class participation points. The only thing that irritated me was that at times it seemed like every single student in the class was goofing around on their phone/laptop, so if that annoys you just be warned.

Dr. Kalkhoff is AWESOME! Really great and caring professor. Intro to Soc is such an easy class. If you show up and do the review guides you will get an A in the class. He does give a lot of extra credit options as well, so even if you do bad on an exam you can save your grade. Take him if you can!

Dr. Kalkhoff was awesome! I recommend this class to anyone looking for an easy A. You do have to show up for class to answer clicker questions for points, but the 3 tests are super easy and he offers a 10 point extra credit assignment. Kalkhoff makes the subject interesting, and it's a good class! I ended the class with a 100 percent.

Dr. Kalkhoff is a great professor and makes his lectures interesting and funny. Intro Sociology wasn't really something I thought I'd be interested in but I ended up really liking it. He is a very helpful professor in all aspects and I strongly encourage anyone looking at taking Soc to take his class!

He might be my best professor I've ever had so far. He doesn't press his opinions on you and explains everything with modern examples. Really an easy guy to relate to. You have to do a little studying after every lecture, but it will not drain you in any means.

Took intro to sociology with him. It was a simple class, although you do need to study a little if you want to get A's on the exams. He gave a review sheet for each exam which made studying easy. There were clicker questions for attendance points but he did give 3 "freebies" so we were able to skip 3 classes and not be penalized for it.

I normally only rate a professor if they were horrible, but Professor Kalkhoff was great. He is very current and uses current movies as an example to the lessons he teaches. The study guide pretty much gives you exactly what is on the exams (only 3 in class ones). He gives random extra credit and a 20 point extra credit paper if you show up.

He is an amazing professor!! He really knows his stuff and he is so intrigued by it, it inspires you! He doesn't have many exams and they are fairly simple. He does use the clicker for clicker questions-make sure to be at class and answer at least half of his clicker questions for that day and he will give you 1 extra credit point every class day.

Took the course a few years ago. Very inspiring!! Based on one of his lectures I found an interest in sustainability and am now doing that as a career. Some people in the course drag it down bc he has to give so much detail to help them. He will talk to you for hours outside of class about ideas. A fascinating person if you get to know him.

Very interesting and knowledgeable professor. Had him for sociology, he really got into the scientific side of sociology instead of traditional political side. Highly recommend taking for any class that you can. Attendance is mandatory for clicker questions, notes and study guides provided online, and textbook use is very low (almost not needed).
