This class is super easy. Professor Kelly is really sweet and really loves Ireland. Only have a traditional midterm, short essay for final. couple movies to watch and some super long readings. Make a group me for the class and you will all get A's.

Professor Kelly is passionate about what he teaches. He is really easy going and makes the class interesting. If you show up it's an easy grade. Seriously, if you want an easy class, this is it.

Comment:

Experienced, but not intimidatingly so. Kind, respectful, caring, and helpful. Answered my flood of emails quickly and clearly. He was even willing to meet with me via skype to help me with a hard lesson while in a different country! Lot's of work, always returned with insightful feedback on the good and bad. TAKE HIM, YOU WON'T REGRET IT!!!

I took his course online and I loved it. His voice lectures were really specific and he gave great feedback on my work. He didn't make me feel intimidated by how smart he was or how much he knew, he just made it easy to understand. There were a lot of assignments but none too hard because he answered almost any and every question I had. I'd take him again if I actually liked English like that.

I loved Dr. Kelly. His class definitely had a very large work-load, but he is very passionate about what he does. He is a tough grader, but it is because he genuinely wants all of his students to succeed. My advice: office hours. He cares about the students that show initiative. Definitely would recommend.

Professor Kelly was great! He explained the literary theories clearly and encouraged a strong discussion in class as well as on discussion boards. The final paper was stressful, but not terrible as long as you put the effort in. Professor Kelly is very willing to help you one on one with any aspect of the class.

This guy is a brutal teacher, does not explain anything clearly in class. His final was absurd. He would make you study vocab words that were never on the test. If you have to take him run for the hills.

He is such a good teacher. I've never been very good at paying attention in class but I have no problem listening to Kelly. He is a great teacher and really wants everyone to do well. He's so patient and chill. Take him!!

Awesome teacher. I hated english before taking this class and his class actually inspired me to move towards business and law rather than the sciences. It was hard getting good grades on the papers but the other assignments definitely boost your grade. Overall he is a very helpful teacher that inspires you to think for yourself.

Joe Kelly is a nice professor, but can sometimes get overly disappointed at students who miss answers when randomly called on in class. He gives good explanations to grades, but it sometimes takes a long time to receive them. He has some very odd assignments that must be done all over the city. They are interesting but time-consuming.

A real gem in the English department at C of C! The class is a very laidback atmosphere where lots of discussion takes place, and he crafts his lectures in a very precise, riveting way, each and every writing we cover. Absolutely astounding! Definitely one of the best at C of C~ take advantage of taking his class! :D Workload is hard but manageable

Disappointing. This was a seminar course in which I expected to learn about research and theory from a scholar in his field. Instead he just sat back to shoot the breeze with plot summaries. He was never prepared and had nothing to share. He took our ideas for himself instead of sharing his own. He has a very unhealthy relationship with James Joyce

Honors special topics class. Discussion-based and team taught. Dr. Kelly is one of the best teachers at the college. He has a great personality and leads discussions well. I would recommend him for any honors course.

He is really into Irish culture. His tests are hard and include detailed information, so read your books carefully. He is a smart guy and likes class participation for group discussions. If you arent speaking up enough, he will call on you. There was a lot of writing (too much for me). See him for extra help because it is worth it!

This guy is a complete jerk. He was one of the most difficult graders I have ever encountered. I was constantly participating in class disscussion and all he could give me was a C in participation. I have always been a strong english students (all As) and I received the worst grade I have ever gotten in this class. Avoid this man!

He's a little weird and sometimes you don't know how to take him. Like he comes to class sometimes half asleep. The books are extremely boring. Lots of class discussion to take up time.
