Great professor. Very passionate about what he teaches and you don't need to have a lot of prior knowledge to do well in the class. He is very good at adding levity to a potentially dry subject matter. Very good as incorporating different view points and different subject matters into the class such as philosophy, psychology, religion, and history

Dr. Runzo is an truly an expert in his fields. His teaching methods aren't orthodox by any means, but this is a good thing for the types of classes he teaches. He is a bit full of himself, but not an egomaniac by any stretch. He jokes a lot to keep it interesting and gives good examples. Grades on understanding; not on memorization.

Runzo has a Richard Dreyfus laugh. His class was awesome, we watched movies and had discussions. The papers were not too bad but not as easy as others say if you want an A. I read the reviews on him before the class and i would say he is much better than the reviews say.

I didn't care for his teaching methods in particular. You can tell when he favors certain students - it seems he can get fed up with certain guys at times. However, when you look like you are interested and put forth effort for the midterm, final and paper you will do well!

Don't be fooled. "Multicultural Ethics" is not in any way multicultural, and only tangentially ethics. It's really "Just War Theory" class. Runzo is a bizarre man. His discussions are meandering, his lectures don't help. It's pretty easy, just not at all what you'll expect. It's also not nearly as hard as he makes it out to be at the beginning.

Comment:
Runzo does have an ego, and is keen to talk about his famous friends. However, class would sometimes steer into very interesting discussions. It's mostly a religious studies class, and there is a good amount of reading required.

Comment:
Phil120 was horrible which is sad cuz I really wanted to learn about other religions. He missed more than the students, yet expects us to understand the info. He's not a clear professor, nor is he really concerned with making the class enjoyable.I know the class double counts, but ask yourself if you're willing to put with an egomaniac 4 a semester.

Professor Runzo expects a lot out of his students, but can you blame him when he is teaching an honors class? The discussions that we had every day of class ended up being really interesting and gave me alot of insight for other subjects and classes. He is a nice guy that really believes in the importance of the subject matter he teaches.

A good professor who definitely knows and is an authority on his subject matter. He cares about his students and wants them to learn from the class. You learn a lot from the discussions, even those that aren't directly pertinent to the text. Gives a good amount of work, but gives you time to do it in and days off to compensate for lots of homework

It looks like you either love or hate Runzo. He could be slightly arrogant, but he sincerely cares about his students and wants them to succeed. He was extremely fair in his class discussions. He encouraged lively discussion and supported all opinions. My friends and I highly enjoyed his class.

I took his Multicultural Ethics class and he was the worst teacher I have ever had. He is arrogant and unfair. He favored the students that raises their hands and agrees with everything he says to feed his ego. He doesnt appreciate those who has a difference of opinion. I dont care how many books he has published, he still is a horrible teacher!

He may be an "expert" in his field - but he's also a shameless self-promoter. Only people in his class (those required) read his books and it's by those books that he makes the students do his job. Not only does he not moderate discussions, but it's clear he doesn't even grade the papers. Wish I got a paycheck for getting others to do my job.

I love Dr. Runzo's teaching style. He's very energetic and excited about the material he teaches. He's also great to talk to outside of class--very helpful! I don't like how students have to read their papers in class though. I want to hear his lecture, not student papers, some of which are terrible

Comment:
Dr. Runzo's level of expertise in this subject area is high, but he does not effectively teach. About 75% of this class is based on students reading their papers aloud to incite discussion, which becomes very tedious quickly.
