Gary in an interesting person to have in your Rider experience. If you're 18 and taking a course with him, he may be the first latent intellectual you've encountered. Show him you can craft and defend interesting and relevant arguments, but avoid shooting from the hip. If you dare - challenge his opinion, and do it articulately - he will love it.

He made me analyze and read literature in a completely different way. I am thrilled I had him for Methods of Literary Analysis. He can be a hard grader but he wants you to do well. He also is very funny, but he has dry humor. We have to challenge him and fight in order to get him to be funny and interactive. I wish he was still here! Best professor

very confusing...gives 5 question quizzes on extreme details of readings that noone would ever remember and papers are required every week on the type of criticism learned that week...he is very intimitating...

If you are a serious English major, this is the guy to take. He really wants his students to LEARN. He won't give you the answers, but he'll help YOU find them. He's just brilliant. He's only hard if you don't know what you're doing.

At the beginning of the semester I didn't like him - I thought he was very arrogant, but recently I've gotten to like him a lot more. He's a brilliant guy and his students can learn a lot from him. He can be hard to follow and the material he covers is definately hard to swallow at times but he's happy meet with students if you have questions

He was by far the most informative professor I have ever had. Though he was tough and never settled for less than your best, he also knew how to challenge me individually. I respect him for his passion and his ability to instill it in others. I miss him

I liked him...he was a little boring sometimes but u learn a lot from him. when he graded my papers he always gave me helpful tips on what to improve on. He is a good professor you just have to give him time to get use to.
