Dr. Joseph Trivette is an interesting individual... He hates mechanical pencils and has a ponytail. As a teacher point of view he is a more learn it yourself kind of guy, but if you have questions he will answer them. When he answers those questions, you have a high chance of him trying to make fun of you in the process, so have good questions.

When you are a music major there is no chance. He could care less about any of your other class's outside of music making it difficult to have enough time to do your other work. This man pretty much ruined my want to play and learn about any music. Especially Jazz.

Amazing teacher . he says right from the start if you're always around and work hard he can make you good, and its 100% true . I cant think of a better music teacher .the people who say he requires you to buy his tickets are full of it . the whole time ive been at southwest hes always giving tickets to his students for free.

Anyone who commented that they didn't like this man obviously lacks motivation. He loves what he teaches and he's amazing as both a performer and an instructor. All he asks is that you respond with an appropriate level of enthusiasm. He made an immense difference in my life. I wouldn't be a music major at a school of music if it weren't for him.

The worst professor, ever. I took 2 classes only because they were in the same semester. He is arrogant, money-hungry (buying and selling tickets to his events are required), irresponsible (skips class more often than I did), and makes even interesting things sound boring.
