You MUST go and attend tutoring to pass this class. Karbens is a knowledgeable professor, but understanding class material is near impossible. I ended up going to tutoring EVERY week in order to pass.

Professor Karbens is probably a genius in the Accounting world, but can't teach worth a nickle. He rambles on, not noticing or caring that no one knows what he is trying to teach, and doesn't answer questions directly, but rather, goes off on tangents. If you show up, and look like your trying, he will grade you easier.

The WORST professor ever!!! He goes on tangents talking about random stuff in class. Very confusing. I learned more in my sleep than i did in this class. I went to tutoring once before the final and i learned more from the tutor in 2 hours than i did all semester. I can say he grades fairly reasonably, considering he doesn't teach at all.

Mr Karbens is a nice person and probably a very good accountant but I do not believe he can teach. I learned through going to the tutor. He gives quite easy grades though.

He does NOT teach how to do accounting. I learned everything from the other students and the tutor. Tutoring should augment the class, not replace the teacher altogether. I wish he could just teach us how to do the things that are on the tests.No one in class had any idea what he was going on about most of time.

He does not teach in a practical way. His class time consists of him talking about accounting concepts and him drawing "real life" accounting on the board. That is great, but he does not teach you how to do basic accounting. In order to learn basic practical acct you must teach yourself, or go to the tutor. Needlessly frustrating and hard.

He will teach you a lot about the accounting world and concepts, but he won't actually teach you how to do the stuff he expects on the tests. That, you must learn on your own or from a tutor. I have never done acct before, but prof taught like we knew how already. Very frustrating trying to ask questions in class, he will not answer you directly.

He's a genius in acct. However if you are not an acct major student, and if you previously failed in Kam's acct2 class, i recommend you to stick with Kam until you pass it. Karbens told us that he's the one who evaluates all other teachers in evri semester, but tbh he seriously needs to evaluate himself based on his teaching methods.

Awesome professor. I liked his classroom atmosphere where everyone tries to learn from what he says and he makes jokes and everyone laughs.. THE IMPORTANT THING IS THAT HE BRINGS US THE ISSUE IN TODAY'S REAL TIME WORLD SO THAT YOU CAN ACTUALLY BE MOTIVATED. STRONGLY RECOMMENDED.

he's a poor instructor who could be brilliant at what he does given the knowledge he has. i had to self teach myself this class since he doesn't do it. He just rambles on about his life and things he's done. It's so hard to stay awake but it's required to be in class. don't take him if you're not good at learning on your own.

Read chapters before class, study Gleim's CPA review book for Audit, be ready for anything on exams/quizzes. He really knows his stuff, but he enjoys talking about industry and life stories (which is great too) over teaching the materials. Overall, grades relatively easy. Must be a self learner in this class.

Easy class if you have a solid accounting foundation. He doesn't really teach but talks about his life and experiences hes had. If you have trouble in accouting make sure you spend a lot of time with the tutors. Tests are pretty easy just know your journal entries.

Easier than I thought it would be. Really nice guy! Pretty easy grader. Master your journal entries and you'll go a long way in his class! Gives HW but checks <5 times all semester. Do it though; keeps you on track. 5 Quizzes/final. Attend class!Got a B but could've gotten an A had I worked harder. Likes athletes! Gr8 RealWorld exp. Teach yourself!

He's kinda hard to understand because he never really speaks in a language that we all can understand. He does give you the benefit of the doubt if you come to class and do the homework. You pretty much have to teach the course material to yourself.
