Comment:

Professor DeCew is amazing. She's extremely knowledgeable, yet humble. Philosophy of law is a must take class. Very few people get more than a B+ for the first paper, so don't despair! For the exams, go through the review sheet with a study group and you should be golden. Never hesitate to ask questions in her class.

Comment:

DeCew has definitely been the nicest teacher I have ever had not the greatest but as I said the nicest. She was still pretty great the lectures are interesting and we had great group discussions. Participation is really important, the exams were easyish cause some of the amount of different philosopher opinions can be hard sometimes. She is great.

Comment:

Pretty cool overall. She's very nice and it is easy to understand her, but if you need help she is more than willing to do so for you. Overall grade is hard to judge, as she doesn't mention her rubric on the syllabus, but her tests are pretty easy if you read and take notes in class. I would highly recommend taking a class with her.

Comment:

She gives traditional essay tests that are based on how well you memorize specific material (though, I found them easy, and she gave a study sheet). While I found the class a little too structured, discussions were interesting, she was very knowledgeable, and she managed to make a class I was dreading fun! Lots of class discussion.

Everyone likes her because she dumbs material down to the point of absurdity and tests how well you memorized her notes on the board. In reality, she teaches poorly, does not allow of coherent or helpful discussion, and is very controlling in subtle ways. Not suggested if you truly care about a topic. Suggested if you don't wanna think.

she was cute, notes are key, she's an expert in****ography from Harvard. What more can you ask for. She does take attendance but I pretty much laughed through her whole class. Its interesting stuff at least.

This is the second class I've taken with Prof DeCew, and she is AMAZING. VERY clear, VERY helpful, VERY fair (not exactly easy, but FAIR). I have NOT ONE gripe with anything she graded (and I gripe a lot). She is smart, and clear, and rational, not always an easy thing to find! Take her classes!

Social and Political Ethics is a great class, very easy and you learn a lot. Decew's Philosophy of Law class is a lot harder because of the materials being covered, but overall is a great class. Prof. Decew is one of the best professors at Clark!
