Comment:
Jurg is a very nice and knowledgeable person but that doesn't make him a good professor. I felt I didn't learn anything. He's very awkward and doesn't really know how to run a class. I never felt motivated to try because he was too passive with grading. The class is super easy so if you just need to take Cine I to graduate then it's an easy A

If you are a cine student, you should jump at the chance to work with Jurg. If you listen to what he says in class, you will deepen your understanding of the art of lighting. He makes time for you when you ask questions. Above all, he allows you to take the course wherever you need to to go, and his sense of humor make class a treat.

Jurg is the cutest human being ever. You don't really do much in his classes, but he's super lenient when it comes to extensions and things like that, and he's the nicest guy ever. I recommend talking to him outside of class if you're interested in cinematography; he's super passionate about it and will talk to you forever if you want to.

Jurg is a very nice teacher and will tell you a lot about Cinematography, one on one. His class is what you make of it. People take advantage of him, and he's really nice. He'll teach you if you want to learn, otherwise, it's just three hours of nothing in your day.

Comment:
Jurg is a great guy, terrible teacher. One on one, actually not too bad, but otherwise, you are probably better off not coming to class (except he gets passive-aggressive sometimes when you don't show up) since going to Jurg's class actually diminishes your ability go complete tasks for the rest of the day. My sanity has been thoroughly tested.

Jurg is a nice guy, very easy-going, but he is a pretty terrible teacher. He can't remain focused on his point and he is poor at conveying his ideas. You can try to guide him back on topic, but there will be people who will use him to slack off. You might too, but hey, you're paying thousands of dollars to be there. Assignments can be tough too.

Comment:
Great intro cinematography class. He moves quickly when teaching the theory side of cinematography, which is good, because you then get to actually shoot 16mm film and 35mm stills. He doesn't waste time with busy work, and instead cares mostly about your interest in the material. Very helpful.

Jurg's the man. He's a cinematography god, and he's such fun. His German accent and way of teaching is so great, and he loves the class. The class itself can be somewhat boring sometimes, but the projects outside of it are great-shoot with 16mm stuff. I wish he taught more, cause I like cine, but all in all, he's just great. Take him, do it. A+

I heart Jurg Walther. It's true that he is very flexible and understanding, but at the same time, students tend to take advantage of this. It seriously breaks his heart when he finds out that students don't care about the subject matter. He's a great 1 to 1 teacher.

Jurg is great - while his class is not as challenging or as focused as other professors, he knows alot and is willing to teach it all if you are willing to put in the time and effort. In class, he has a hard time lecturing to a whole group, but if you put in some effort and show him you care about the subjet he can really help you learn more.

I had Jurg for visual storytelling and cine 1. He is a really nice funny guy. deadlines are very flexible and he is very understanding on due dates and attendance. He is a ditzy at times but you love him for it. I would recommed taking any class taught by Jurg is a very passionate about what he teachers and an easy grader.

If you care about cine, take Bill Dill. But Jurg is so flippin' nice you cant hold it against him that he doesnt really teach much. Everyclass we waste at LEAST about an hour, and the projects arent particularly helpful. So, if you want to get the requirement with a good grade, take him, easy A. But if you want to be a DP, go will Dill.

Jurg is an extremely nice guy and he will give you all the creative freedom you want. Please, just be nice and work hard. I hate to see it when easy going teachers get fired or have to change their ways and become strict because students take advantage of them.

Jürg is a great professor! he's super cool with deadlines (even thought that's not true of the real world). The projects are very helpful and he has positive feedback (even if your film sucks). he's really great take him

Jurg's grades don't really make since. The still picture projects suck, and Jurg has no time management skills in class. We went 2/3 of the semester without picking up a film movie camera. If you can, take Cine 1 with someone else.

Jurg's a jovial and enthusiastic gent with a very good sense of style. I enjoyed his class and speaking with him on many occasions during my time at Chapman. I think he was a bit nervous as it was his first year there, but he seemed to ease into his position nicely. He was always supportive and willing to listen, which I found to be otherwise lacking among many of the faculty. I wish him well.

Probably the easiest film class you'll take. But, he's got a lot of good info if you care to ask him. He's probably the nicest film prof at chapman too!
