Comment:

Hi upper div music fam, be careful. There is a LOT of reading and homework, and the tests can be quite long. Honestly, the textbook was more useful than the lecture itself. There are 4 essays, a report, 4 non-cumulative tests, and 1 cumulative final. She does care though, so be honest and tell her if she's going to fast or giving too much work.

Comment:

She's a great conductor. Rehearsals are extremely efficient and chosen repertoire is fun to play. I respect her for obviously being an amazing and knowledgeable musician and for not wasting any time during rehearsal. She is moody and will snap at people if she doesn't like something which I think is a bit unprofessional.

Great choir director, but has issues with personal respect and outside of class responsibilities. Expects nothing less than the best, and is very qualified for her role. Probably will not be the director you have a close bond with, but cares immensely about the overall well-being of the choir.

There are few people in this world who can take on as much as Dr. Charloff does. I really respect her because she does everything! Not everyone would be able to do what she does. She is really knowledgeable about everything she teachers and shows us how deep music can be. A pleasure to work with her these past years.

Very organized, professional and clear with everything. She chooses good repertoire. I have been with her for one year but learned a lot from her. She does a great job getting the students to perform well. She expects you to know your stuff and know what you are singing. A little hard to keep a conversation going with her but inspiring conductor.

Totally professional and she is a great teacher - especially explaining the history and relevance of pieces in addition to stressing the performance aspects. She is strict when she needs to be but always treats individuals with respect. A class act!

A great conductor who really knows how to pull the musicality out of the performers and the ensemble. Takes care of business and runs rehearsals efficiently. Demanding of students, and doesn't tolerate flakes, mediocrity and lack of preparation. She expects you to know your stuff.

Awesome choir director!!! Very strict though. Make sure you know what you're doing b/c she expects nothing less than the best. She's helped so much in improving my musical abilities. She's fine about asking questions unless you ask too many or if it's something she's covered about 3 times already.
