I absolutely love class with Dr Yokoyama. He tries his best to make class enjoyable and funny and at 8:30 in the morning that can really help to stay at least somewhat focused. He is very nice and conveys information well. If you put in an ounce of work outside of class it shouldn't be hard to do well. Dropped lowest test and not a lot of homework.

I took it as a bio major, so doing this class with other rough science was a time. I had to withdraw. He is interesting in lectures but there are tests basically every 2/3 weeks and none are dropped. Add on the homeworks and quizzes and it is a LOT of work. You have 50 minutes for tests with multiple choice and short answer, he does give partial.

Kazu is wonderful and so caring. He really wants his students to do well. Each time I would reach out to him with a question he would respond within the hour. Even though I didn't meet him in person because my class was online, he was so sweet. I HIGHLY recommend taking CHEM 104&105 online with him!

Very nice dude. Really wants everyone to do well in his class. May come off as intimidating the first day, but he does everything in his power to make sure everyone gets a good grade. All his lectures are posted online, which makes it easy to teach yourself if you skip class. Pretty thick accent though, hard to understand at times. Kazu rocks.

His lectures are straight from the textbook and offers no new information he actually leaves information out that is later on the exam. He then puts up slides of math problems for about 2 seconds and says "if you know this your good" and then moves on. I strongly encourage you read the chapter before the lecture and understand it forward and back.

He was a very good prof, as long as he knew you were trying, he would be likely to give you the benefit of the doubt and round up. He also gave great life advice, such as "some of you may say that you don't check your email, but you'll never get a job, so yeah, do that." Stand up guy and helpful prof, but you have to do the assignments or you fail.

Its what you expect out of a lab, but he just supervises and teaches the pre-lab lecture but the LI's do all the work as far as grading (hope you get a good one). He has a great sense of humor and even the most boring labs always turn into a good time. Love taking Dr. Yoko's classes!

If you get the pleasure of getting to know Dr. Yoko he is very approachable and personable. He cares about you and wants you to be successful. His office hours are key! The lectures tend to be long and boring but his office hours are one on one and if you come with questions it will be golden! He takes attendance so be there!

5 exams before the final, drops the lowest one. SUPER FAIR &NICE GUY. I went to almost all his office hours &did problems with him that I didnt understand. The book is UNNECESSARY just do the previous exam &sample exam that he provides. He cares about your grade and really knows the material. Excellent prof, wish he taught chem118

I'm very confused where these ratings are coming from. Nothing is explained in this class. He skims through 100+ slides in a single lecture barely scratching the surface of any topic. Compared to this gen bio was ridiculously easy. The curve is so extensive that yes you can get an A, but its pretty much worthless because you don't actually learn.

Yokoyama is one of the best chemistry professors on campus, he is always there to help you. Greatest lab professor and definitely the best for Gen Chem 1. Curves a lot and very easy if you do minimal work you should be able to get a B+ easily. If you care a little, this class is an easy A-. However, it's an easy A regardless of how bright one is.

Although his pre-labs were long, he draws sketches for the procedures so you would't mess up the actual lab. During Lab, if you needed help, he wasn't hesitant to come to you. Overall, I hated taking it Friday afternoons, but taking Lab with him made it fun!

Yokoyama is the best teacher to take for General Chemistry! All his questions come from last years exam he gives you or the sample exam he gives you. If you do both, your golden! His online quizzes are super easy and all the answers can be found, and he is very helpful at office hours!

Gives plenty of opportunities to improve grade, such as an extra bonus point for going to office hours, and having 5 tests so that the lowest was dropped. Attendance was taken during class, since it is an 8:30. Notes are fill in, and are a summary, most of the time taken verbatim, from the textbook.

Tests are curved and the lowest is dropped. There are a lot of homework assignments and quizzes that are online. Don't wait until the last minute because it can take awhile. Most answers can be found online. Easiest professor for Chem 116

Yoko is a little hard to understand because of his accent. Very easy to tune out and not pay attention. Provided a ton of hep during office hours and really cares about students. Test questions are taken directly from sample exam and the final is questions from the tests but with different values.
