Online Class: He attempts to keep up but fails to explain anything in relative detail, no review for tests aside from "hear have at it" Questions are confusing and provide no clarification. Answers given to questions you ask make no sense at all. Overall a very very frustrating teacher. Do not take him if you can avoid it.

He gives by far the most lectures of all the teachers in this department. I always felt like he came to class with absolutely no idea what he wanted to lecture about that day. He constantly pauses for long periods of time in between sentences while he thinks about what to say next. Never had any pre-typed notes or pp slides ready for class.

His lectures are VERY boring. He is repetitive and as he puts it: "lazy." Overall his tests and assignments are easy, but he is terrible at keeping you informed. He posts assignments on Blackboard, but doesn't clearly tell you when they are due or even mention that he posted them! If he put more effort into teaching, he wouldn't be so bad.

Dr. hartness is a really great guy if you get to know him. Lectures are sometimes boring, and its easy to start daydreaming as the months roll by, but as long as you get the first 2 programs done you have the semester pretty much in control. Tests are relatively easy.

COBOL - The programs are easy for the most part, just sometimes lengthy. The tests are also lengthy, and may take up two days. The lectures are boring, with lame jokes. You need the book, because he assigns homework out of it, and some programs come from it.

Hartness would be better off teaching a higher level class. He is far to advanced to break down an intro class to people. also i believe he is fairly new at teaching.

I found this professor to be very helpful, but he also expects for his students to read the book and try to learn on their own. If you read the book and work all of the programs then should make a decent grade.

Not only is this class hard in the first place, but he doesn't present the information in a clear manner. This is a hard class with an awful teacher.
