Gives a fun and varied selection of projects. Has long and rambling crits that often have nothing to do with the project and start with "One time when I was in Mexico..." But if you ask him specific questions about your wip he'll give good feedback. Also doesn't care if you stay the whole class as long as you get your work done well and on time.

Funny teacher who definitely knows what he's doing. Doesn't give much advice unless you ask for it. Grades you fairly, in my opinion.

Shares a lot of funny stories. Expects a lot and very nit picky on projects. He does not do much actual teaching. He more just assigns projects and you do them. Projects are easy and enjoyable. Class is chill, you just work on your projects. Doesnt give much feedback while doing he project. Sometimes steers you in the wrong direction.

His grading is tough more or less due to specification to detail especially in proportions and all that. His lectures may continue the whole three hours talking of random art situations, but also filled with tons of random stories. He is very funny and full of laughs, but when asked is very helpful.

McCloskey is a goofball. He's really in tune with the world of illustration, and he keeps the students up to date as well. At times it seems like he's taking everything as a joke, but he really does care about your work and gets really excited if you make something great. His classes are more self-directed than most, in a good way.

One of the best teachers in the art building. He CHALLENGES you to come up with your best work, Has great things to say about your projects if you push yourself and prove how hard you worked. He tells great stories, the man has been everywhere and done everything!I had him in a morning class and he would still come in with a smile and his goofy humor!

He wasn't very helpful when it came to student's projects. He seemed more interested in telling stories about his own work and people he's met. Critiques were long and drawn out and not very helpful. Often you would get a grade back and be taken completely by surprise. Good prof. if you like skipping class, bad if you actually want to learn.

he's a great illustrator but he didn't really teach any illustration techniques. the class wasn't hard and he is laid back and really funny but not an easy grader. if you really want to learn illustration, take bosler. her students looked like they actually got something out of it.

out of all the professors in the major, kevin is the most laidback. these are stress free classes, which are a major welcome when everything else piles up. i highly recommend him if you have any intentions of illustrating.

He treats Visual Thinking as if it were a joke, and doesn't tell you what he expects of you until it's too late. I wish he would have been more clear and told you that he would be grading things on a completely different level than he makes it seem like he would. Be prepared to constantly be confused.

Anyone that thinks he is a poor professor just failed to see his genius.Yes he is a bit eccentric and class may seem like a joke. But if you take the projects seriously you'll learn a lot and get a good grade. Most people didn't take the class seriously and created bad work. These are the ones that got bad grades n feel the need to complain about him

I have had this character for three classes, and character is an accurate description. His classes are entertaining and useless. He is a performer, not a teacher. If you are looking for a good time, you'll find it; if you're interested in learning anything you're going to be extremely let down.

Survey with this guy isn't bad, just pay attention to what he says and you'll more than likely do well on the quizzes. He's not really consistent with taking attendance at all. As for visual thinking...I always got a laugh every time I had class. He grades a little harder than you would think, but it's not impossible to get an A in either class.

I had him for 2 classes, his sur and vis think. He's very entertaining, has alot of funny stories and has led a very interesting. I dont think I got anything out of having to take vis thinking, but it wasnt his fault, the class is just pointless. As a history teacher, his quizes are easy compared to your average history class if you study.

who hired this guy? complete waste of a prof. Random stories is the basis for all his classes and learning anything meaningful is not.

Prof McCloskey is nice. but dont under estimate him. his crits are a little critical ( for lack of a better word) he'll pick out the smallest things and make a joke out of your work. he's alright i guess, but i know im not going to learn anything from him. the visual journal is a good idea though.

Have had this prof for more than one class. Cool professor, very energetic. While I enjoy his enthusiasm, and although I did ace his courses, his grading on projects seems a little random. And I wish his critiques were more about criticism instead of trying to make jokes out of anything possible. But oh well.

Visual thinking is far out as is, but with McCloskey, it's really a trip. This class is nothing like your used to at this level of college because of it's freedom of design. If you can justify your approach within his grading parameters, your good.
