Lizza is overall a nice guy. I feel bad mostly because he talks for an hour 20 and no one listens because he never stops talking. This class was a waste of time and effort. There isnt one paper you will get better than a B on so be prepared. The midterm is also heavy on the readings so make sure to buy the book and actually read

We had a paper due every week on a philosophy reading but we only had to do 7 out of 10 during the whole semester. He lectures the entire class about the reading and he isn't very clear about what he wants out of the papers. I probably could have gotten an A if I put in more effort, but the class is time consuming.

took him during the summer. I had heard the horror stories of philosophy classes but this was the exact opposite. You don't really have to buy the books because you could probably find the info on google, as I did. I didn't do any of the readings and still did good. There was 10 hw assignments, 10 discussion posts, 3 papers, one quiz & a final.

Dr John Lizza is a good professor. Lectures are interesting if philosophy is an interest of yours. Gives study guides with questions. Literally the questions come off the study guides for the exams and he goes over them in class. Easy class if you ask questions.

Dr. Lizza is a good professor but his grading is outrageous. Never uses D2L so you never know what your grade is in the class. Gives out study guides but skips around and never answers the questions he puts on the tests. Be ready to read and answer questions the way he wants them answered.

Perhaps the most boring lecturer on the face of the planet. If you're like me and are only taking this class to fill a gen-ed, do not take this teacher. He is passionate and knows what he is talking about, but doesn't make it interesting or accessible. He also starts new discussions at the very end of class and goes over time. Do not recommend.

Great professor outside of the classroom. He really cares about students and helping them make connections in the field. However, you cannot please him in class. he is a strictly textbook guy. I wouldn't recommend his class necessarily. But overall decent prof who does care a lot and does a lot for students.

Was enrolled in a philiosophy class with a different professor and ended up dropping because I just couldn't grasp the subject. Took it online in the summer and it was the best decision, this professor was so helpful and willing to work with me and my crazy summer schedule. Had no interest in the subject but definitely a good professor!!

What a great guy. He's genuinely nice to everyone and really cares that you succeed. Its philosophy, so don't expect an easy A, but the class isn't too hard. We had one small quiz, and a final on all the readings, as well as several short papers and one research paper. He's a fair grader though, so they aren't hard. Take him if you get the chance!

One of the most boring lectures to sit through but he is a really nice guy who really likes what he does even though 90% of my class didn't. He gives you the test questions ahead of time you just need to follow along in class and you'll get A's on the tests because he answers the questions straight out.

Very nice guy and helpful. Long lectures but if you take notes he answers all questions you need. You get essay question sheets for the readings and he picks 5 or 6 for the midterm and final so if you answer them throughout the semester you won't struggle too much on the tests. Lots of reading but most of it is pretty interesting. I recommend him.

He is one of the most helpful professor's at Kutztown. You need to read the books he assigns and study for his tests but he is happy to help. Philosophy is a difficult subject but he makes it easy, especially if you're willing to try. He counts attendance and participation so if you show up for class and do your work you should easily get an A.

Great professor. Puts things in plain terms. Really makes you think about things. Class would be better if more people talked during it. Papers are easy. Tests are kind of hard because there are 20-30 questions discussed in class and only 5 or 6 on the exam. Make sure you take good notes and ask if you don't understand something! He doesn't mind.

First off, the class can be easy if you don't put any thought into your papers. However, if you really think, it will become difficult. There are 6 or 7 three page papers, and 1 ten page term paper. Book is mandatory. Overall, amazing class taught by an amazing professor!

I loved this class! Its Philosophy so you'll be reading and thinking critically. He likes to lead open discussions so sometimes you'll state your opinion and he'll look at you like he wants you to elaborate. He does have a good sense of humor so if your comments on a given subject are funny he'll laugh. Definitely take him if you need a PHI class!

He is a really nice guy and we have great discussions in class. Philosophy is a very difficult subject but he makes it easier to understand because of the class discussions. I'm a minor in women's studies so I can't wait until he teaches human love and sexual morality again. He's one of the easiest professors I had.

Great professor, very helpful! Sometimes he isn't quite clear in discussion, but it's not like philosophy is exactly clear itself. For our term paper he has given me so much help and guidance. His grading is very fair.
