Her lectures are not helpful. Expects you to know material. She is impatient and get frustrated if you don't understand her teaching style. Most of your classmates will drop course by first exam. Take another professor.

A bit difficult to understand at times, but it gets easier as the semester goes on. She's a fair grader and not too tough, although be prepared to spend a lot of time and effort trying to pass the class.

I took her for Statistics and Probability. While many students in the class struggled (one test had more than half of the students fail), I did not, and I in fact learned a lot. I found her to be clear in her lectures which are dense and brisk and helpful with questions from homework. Her personality can come off as mean/blunt but look past it.

Teaches very fast, which is unacceptable in a difficult math class. Skips steps when doing a problem after just teaching how to do it, would not recommend nd her grading is tough

If you can wait a semester to take a better professor, please do yourself the favor. There's no point in taking it with her now just, or else you'll probably have something to bring down your GPA. She gets mad if you don't understand something right away and just does questions instead of going over them. Don't take her!

She is very rude to her students. She stands in front of the class yelling at the students for not knowing something and makes you feel stupid. A majority of the students fail each test and there are no opportunities to raise your grade. Her test questions are nothing like the homework or review sheet questions. Very unhelp.

Method of teaching is deficient, imo. Her review sheets will consist of questions that should appear on the exam; most will not. She puts questions on the test that have not been asked on the homework or the review sheet. Since her work is so time consuming, it is difficult to develop a sound understanding of the material. Hold out for better profs

Dr. Lan Zhao is a alright teacher. She's very hard to understand at times, but she is willing to help you out if you need. For MA1020 it's mostly computer based. Hence you don't understand something in class, you can figure it out online. Plus she gives reviews for all tests, midterms and final. All in all i would recommend her for MA1020 ;)

Prof Zhao seems too smart to be teaching! When you ask her to clarify a problem or help its useless because she doesn't know how to "dumb it down." (for lack of a better phrase) I didn't expect to be spoon-fed in this course, its college, but this class was very hard and I would recommend someone take another professor in precalc instead of her.

I would not recomend her if you can take the class with another prof. please do beleve me, I got A's in (cal 1,2,3 and diferential ecuation) and I only need two more math courses to graduate, i took MA2030 with her and it was a hell going into her class, i passed her class but it was for myself, eford hard work only, not because i learned anything

Awesome teacher, You'd be smart to choose a course taught be her. Excellent examples, clear explanation. She knows her stuff and you will too after this class, be prepared to work do all your homework tests are just like the homework examples with different numbers.

Some people really need to grow up. It's college, not elementary school. Just because the professor does not spoon feed you the info, does not mean he or she cannot teach or does not know the subject. Dr. Zhao is one of the most knowlegable professors at Old Westbury. She is a tough grader, but you will learn something in her class.
