Im in my last year of a PhD in psychology, years after law and b-school, and was asked what inspired my interest in psychology. I immediately said a professor I had at Foothill for several classes 25 yrs ago. Peculiar yes, but he inspired and taught me with anecdotes and passion. So I looked him up and found this. I will never forget Larry Rouse.

Comment:

I learned so much from this professor because he tells stories about his patients and himself. Eventhough he acts strange at times due to him being bipolar, he is passionate about psyc and cares about his students- I'm Asian and absolutely do not think he doesn't like any race. I took psyc from other professors- and none is better than Dr. Rouse.

I used to refer to him as my psychologically-abnormal-abnormal-psychology teacher. The first half of the semester, he was subdued and monotone, the 2nd half he was very animated and passionate during lectures. If he isn?t bipolar, he sure acts like it. Not a hard class, still learned a lot, I recommend him. Just be prepared for his uniqueness.

Dr. Rouse is an enigma. If he taught at a 4-year college, students and faculyt might understand his personality better, but his persona is misunderstood and misconstrued by some of the students and bureaucrats here at Foothill. He does tell personal stories but he relates them to pscyhological themes. Every professor has a different way of teach

He might be the treasure of Foothill since he helps students boost up their GPA.You can sit in his class and talk your real feeling to the class because he makes the class friendly. Just that sometimes you have to stand his unnormal mood.

This guy seems mentally ill and unbalanced, but he really knows his stuff. I am not sure if it is so much that he is crazy or that he is putting us on. I took the book and tried to match it to his lecture - go and listen hard. You will understand more about psychology and remember more than seems possible with this famous Foothill wierdo.

Complete basketcase! I think he only talks abt psychology because of his apparent insanity. His class is a joke, but an easy A if you can sit thru lectures based on his sexual fanatsies.

Crazy guy, is a test study in psychology himself, but a great prof. He is extremely knowledgable and passionate about his subject. Be prepared for a class and teaching style like none other, but well worth it if you can set your initial aversions to his style aside and let yourself get into the class!

Larry "the madman" Rouse was one of the best teachers i have ever had. He gets really involved in his lectures and makes psychology fun. Do yourself a favor and take his class.

interesting, caring and helpful teacher. Overall, a great teacher. He also did go crazy when I took him, but we all experience problems at times. Tests are 10 essay questions which are very easy if you take notes well. Would totally recommend, take all of his classes.
