Comment:

Knowledgeable and easy to understand, very direct with few tangents. I recommend Dr. Kelley if you have never had theory before. If you've had music theory before it will be easy as this class is Music Theory I. Some people struggled. You must study outside of class and attend class, due to a harsh, but fair attendance policy.

The only thing you have to do to pass Aural skills with kelly is PRACTICE. Practice for sightsinging and practice for dictation. Every class time she tells you what will be on the exam so practice everything she taught .

Dr. Kelly KNOWS music. She also knows how to teach people who struggle with it. While I never personally needed extra help, I've witnessed her take as much time helping clarify things as need be. If you're afraid of asking for help, don't be because Dr. Kelly wants you to succeed

Dr Laura Kelly is a great prof and has a lot of energy. She made learning a lot of information really easy and fun. She goes over what will be on the test before test day. She also has performance tests that are done in groups and aren't bad at all.

Dr. Kelly is an amazing professor. For all those who say she's difficult, it's only that you HAVE TO STUDY OUTSIDE OF CLASS. She can't possibly explain it all in class. If you study and do the homework, it'll be an easy A. Also, class is very interesting, and she keeps it fun :)

One of the best professors I've ever had! Going to Dr. Kelly's class was actually fun, because she is pretty entertaining. Not only that, she is really helpful and explains concepts well. If you're in Aural, take with Dr. Kelly!!

Dr. Kelly is so cool! She's a really stricked teacher, she's all about RHYTHM!! But she's ALWAYS willing to help, and is probably the BEST aural skills teacher ever! YOU WILL pass your perficiancy!!!

EXCELLENT! Best Maymester class I've ever had! Dr. Kelly is easy-going, teaches exactly what you need and tests to what she's taught. As long as you've participated, you should waltz through exams with at least a B. If you need you're arts credit, take the maymester but make sure you're in Dr. Kelly's class!

I completely disagree with the below ratings. There was one student who added the class several classes later than the rest of us, and he was clueless. I assume the ratings below came from him. He constantly asked questions from lectures that happened a week or more earlier. He was a distraction and not very smart. Dr. Kelly is great.

Dr. Kelly doesn't seem to understand that she is rude and wastes a lot of time in class discussing things that are not relevant. She insists you follow the syllabus but she can't even keep up with her own lesson plans. Most students can't pass tests, and she tries to make up by curving tests, but the issue is that we don't know the material.

Professor Kelly is AMAZING!!! She helps out her students very much! The door to her office is always open to anyone...but of course only her office hours though. She has great organized lectures and she is willing to postpone tests if needed by her students. The difficulty of the class is in the middle I would say. Just study and practice!

great aural skills teacher, all you have to do is practice your prepared melodies and that should help you enough to understand everything else. she's a cool lady, doesn't take things too seriously (unless you're not doing your work) and you'll really know your stuff once you're finished.

I disagree with the previous post. Prof. Kelly is not disorganized. She is flexible. She is willing to postpone exams and add review assignments and sessions when the students need help. She is always in her office too. It kinda sounds like the previous rater didn't do very well, and is trying to blame Prof. Kelly.

I've had Prof. Kelly for Aural and Basic since I began my music degree. My fresh. yr. she was great so I took from her again my soph. yr., and she's been awful-she was unorganized in all 3 classes she taught this semester! Also, stay on her good side or she'll screw you over. She can be difficult to access. If you like structure, don't take her.
