Absolute terrible experience with this professor. He's not good with communication, which makes things impossible since it's an online class. I had no idea what his expectations were for any assignment since there wasn't clear grading rubric. The discussions for the class aren't related to the textbook, and you are also graded by only 5 things!

I really enjoyed my online class with Professor Armitage. The subject matter carried my interest, but his prompts also made me laugh. He carries a clear perspective and political point of view, and though some find it takes away from the course, I find it enhanced it. He could have been more communicative, which was the only flaw I found.

Lecture is 100% of the class, & he doesn't lecture based on the book material. He teaches based on his opinions & heavily incorporates bias (ie. calling our president a moron, referring to George W as shrub, denouncing republicans) Easy class but unless you enjoy being preached at for two hours at a time, STAY AWAY.

I took his class on in the fall of 2014 and he's great! He's very approachable and easy going and extremely open minded. He's the type of professor that doesn't give hw but presentations and wants students to participate actively in class. We did the textbook time to time- just take good notes. He really cares for his students too!

Great professor, if you go to class and participate, you will pass. It's important that he can match your name to your face. Talk with him, his a funny guy, and if you enjoy this topic you'll have a blast second half of the quarter.

Informative lectures. Brings relevant current events to class. Must study for tests, but all other assignments are easy. Participation knowledge + entertainment + points. Assignments he is HUMAN and realizes that students are humans too! He welcomes variety, please express your "voice" freely, he would absolutely love that.

Took his International Relations class, I really enjoyed it. If you come to class and participate you will surely pass. It's nice to be up to current event, and you only have 1-2 papers. Make sure to talk to him 1 on 1 to understand what he expects from paper. Received A.

I received an A- in his course. The issue however is Mr. Armitage is highly biased and lectures about his own political views, yet tests on the readings. We had one graded essay assignment during the entire course and it took him 6 weeks to get it back. Midterm is online and all answers can be simply googled. Awful!

Absolutely terrible. Sends the entirety of class talking about his political views, then tests on the textbook. This wouldn't be nearly as bad had attendance and participation been a major part of the grade. If you have any desire to continue learning political science, don't take him

Reading the other comments on here, everyone says the same thing: he is HEAVILY biased and doesn't teach from, yet tests from, the material (3+ books). Some don't find a problem with this. I do. As a professor, your job is to supply FACTS, plain & simple. He gives his biased opinion, & doesn't guide you at all in a beginner course. Terrible.

I took online plsc class this summer. There were no ppt, and you have to read everything yourself! Three books were assigned. The professor was not helpful at all.

Stellar professor. Puts effort into his lectures and does his best to inspire debate and discussion. Interesting views, very cynical, but you will enjoy this class if you like political discussion or want this prereq civics class presented in a way that's not dry and boring. Books are helpful, the California government book is unnecessary.

His lectures are worth going to, and he really does give a crap about his students. Also gives lots of slack when the class is required (like POLI 1). He hates tests as much as we do, so he really only cares about the essay. Don't mess up the formatting though, he's a stickler for that.

Professor Armitage is one of the best professors I have ever had the pleasure of taking at Foothill. He cares deeply about the subjects he teaches and makes sure the students in the class room are involved in the daily discussion. Or else you will lose 100 points. If you are more shy he leaves a place where you can chat online to get the credit.

The work load was very light, only two essays and a presentation. If you are really interested and already knowledgeable in political science than this class would be good for you, but if you are just taking it to fulfill a GE requirement than you might not enjoy it.

Despite the quickness of the summer classes, his grading scale makes getting a passing grade VERY easy! In general, he is well educated, has a GREAT sense of humor, very flexible, easy to talk to, and helpful when asked questions. :) He does his best to save you money on the textbook and understands most people are there just for GE requirements.

Worst experience of my life! i was actually really excited about this class, but this teacher killed it. Very hard grader. I suggest you know EVERYTHING about poli sci before you take his class. If you don't,he will make you feel stupid! DON'T TAKE HIS CLASS unless you are already an expert. I can't believe some one who hates teaching is a prof.

I'm not a Poli Sci major, nor do I agree with everything professor Armitage believes. That being said, I found the class very interesting and enjoyed hearing about politics from different perspectives. Only take this class if you are open minded. As long as you show up to class on a regular basis, and do the readings, its impossible to fail.

I maintained all A's until his class. He is not helpful and not encouraging at all. There aren't many opportunities to pull up your grade, so if you get anything bellow a B on the first exam i suggest you drop the class. His midterm is even harder. This class will cost me my 4.0, which I worked so hard for. I really, deeply regret taking his class.
