She's an ideologue who is extremely hostile towards any ideas that are different from her own. DO NOT TAKE HER CLASS IF YOU WANT TO LEARN ANYTHING USEFUL

Professor Meyer is a wonderful, knowledgeable lecturer and friend. She is always patient to hear our opinions, and is very open to suggestions on class content. Readings are intensive but very fun, and I highly recommend all the field trips. Writing assignments are evenly distributed over the semester, so an A is fairly easy to earn.

Comment:
I was disappointed in the LGBTIQ history class. It's very easy to do well without knowing much about queer history. There was little in-class motivation to do the reading, and I suspect most people didn't, which made the discussions weak. Professor Meyer is kind, accessible, and interesting, but I don't recommend this class.

Amazing professor and a very kind and caring person. I only had her for COLL150 but I would take any class with her in the future. I'm not even a GSWS major, but I adored the class and the professor. She gave me fantastic feedback on the work I submitted and helped me become a better student. Highly recommend.

Prof. Meyer is by far one of the best professors at W&M. Take her class, it will change your life.

Comment:
Professor Meyer is super interesting, and what she had to say was usually very engaging. But the amount of reading you have to do per class is absolutely outrageous, and her exams are too long to finish. She expects you to know every bit of every reading. Don't take this class if you're taking 15 creds or more.

One of my favorite classes I've taken at W&M was Sexuality in America with Prof. Meyer. She is fun, engaging, and intelligent, and the material is rich and interesting to analyze. A lot of reading, but she summarizes main points in class. There are discussion sections, which were the highlight of the class. If you get the chance, TAKE THIS CLASS!

SUCH a great teacher. Her sexuality in America class was by far my favorite this semester. Lots and lots of reading, but its almost all interesting, though it does get repetitive at times. I hope I have the opportunity to have her in a smaller class since in Sexuality in America, she does let anyone speak which gets us off track.

Great teacher, but almost impossible to get an A. Assigns lots of reading and doesn't curve. Discussions are really interesting (although she does sometimes let some idiots take the class off track), and she is really personable. So nice, I almost didn't mind the B-.

Nice woman, good lectures, but allows a few idiots in the class to drive the discussion off topic. Midterm, Final, Paper, and 2 Primary Docs. Easy B, almost impossible A (doesn't curve, doesn't do grade inflation). Overrall a good class.

Not good in large class environment because class gets of track and then all the structure is gone. clearly knows her stuff when she's "on" but got very frustrated by how much class time is wasted. wasn't a big fan of the exam because I didn't know what to expect. I would take her again if it were small class

Great colloquiem teacher, her classes involved lots of discussion and films. She does give a lot of reading- 300-500 pages a week. Most of the class just read a parts of the reading, its not all important. Shes really gets to know her students and has fun with them- the last class was held at the Leafe. The difficulty was right for a 400s class.

The very worst kind of professor - her lectures lack any structure or substance and her grading method is very subjective at best, pure favoritism at worst. Avoid her at all costs.

Awesome professor! Really knows her stuff. This is the only class I've had where I never wanted to skip because I enjoyed lectures so much. Kind of a picky grader, but will help you out whenever you need it. Provides helpful study guides before all exams. Makes an effort to get to know us by name

She is excellent! Good, mostly interesting lectures, really knows the subject. Very willing to work with students, interesting discussion, mostly easy grader. If she cannot answer a student question, she will research it and answer before next class.
