Comment:

Very rarely doesn't know the answer to any question you ask. Lectures are fascinating and it feels like she knows everything about everything. Genius but not pretentious, very understanding and caring. Often extends due dates/grants extensions. Office hours will probably boost your grade but she's also just really fun to talk to.

Comment:

Definitely an understanding professor. She listens to her students and makes adjustments for the collective class. Her office hours are not necessary, but they are so helpful and Cushing is also just a nice person to talk to. There are a lot of readings, so learn to skim. Her grading does take a while though.

Comment:

Cushing is such an amazing professor. She knows a lot and can easily draw on a lot of materials in class discussions. She is like a resourceful well of knowledge. I have never been so looking forward to class discussions. I am really really happy that I've taken a class with her during my study at Colgate. Definitely take a class with her.

Comment:

Professor. Cushing the kindest and most friendly person! She cares a lot about her students and really act like a friend among students. She even cooks for us! Her lectures are amazing, and the readings are also interesting. I really learnt a lot in her class even thought I am not a religion major. Easy grader as well! Would definitely take again!

Lots of reading, but she only expects you to read for big ideasnot specifics. Hilarious, kind woman teaching a seriously fascinating class on food and religion. I'd take from her again in a heartbeat.

The best professor I've had at Colgate so far. I'd highly recommend her for legacies; she is funny, engaging, and really helpful if you make an effort to go to office hours. She makes ancient theology the most interesting topic ever.

She wants you to do well, very friendly and approachable woman. Delivers information in as interesting of a manner as possible, she is funny, well informed, knowledgable. I want her to be my mother.

Professor Cushing graded very hard and very explained her grades at all. In addition, I commonly went to her regular office hours only to not find her there. She rarely responded to emails and essentially ran out of the class as son as it ended. Classes were fine but impossible to get a hold of outside of class

Cushing is hilarious and I absolutely love her class. She clearly loves what she does and she is great at explaining things, but can be a bit of a tough grader, and gives pop quizzes almost every day so its definitely not an easy course, but definitely worthwhile.

Comment:

Cushing does an incredible job of being unbiased when teaching the worlds' religions. She makes every class entertaining, and her sarcastic and witty humor makes me want to attend every single time. She is incredibly helpful and clear in her lectures. She really wants her students to succeed. Definitely my favorite professor at Colgate by far.

She is the reason I'm a religion minor now. Very interesting and brilliant. Makes class as fun as possible. I actually enjoyed getting up early to go to this class. Take a class with her!

Great professor!! loved her. Class was always fun and interesting and she always made good jokes. You could tell she was really into her subject and knowledgeable about it. Would definitely take her again!

Comment:

Professor Cushing is amazing, I had heard she was good and specifically looked to take Legacies with her; I was not disappointed. She is engaging and and funny, and she makes a point to make everyone feel included (and comfortable) in discussions. The reading was at times lengthy, but the versions of the texts were easy to read, and papers short.

Prof Cushing is the most entertaining, easy going professor i've encountered. She is not too difficult, and approaching her helps a lot. Participation also helps and so does actually doing the reading. There were only 2 papers and a take home midterm and take home final. You do the math, the work load was not so bad plus she made the exams clear.

I think Cushing is much more apt to not teaching Western Traditions than she thinks she is. She's a wonderful person and is quite a trip, but I'll be honest, I didn't learn a whole lot in the course. I was glad to be done with it, but I would take her again for something else in a heartbeat.

Professor Cushing is honestly one of the best professors I have had at this school. I was dreading Legacies before taking her class but she made it very enjoyable and engaging. Take this class with her if at all possible. She is a bit slow with returning things but if you put in an honest effort it will be reflected in your grade.

The class was dull at times despite Cushing's attempts for the opposite. The grading was biased. Worst of all, she takes far too long to grade assignments. As finals ended, we had about half of our grade still undetermined. Take this class with caution. It is an okay core, but don't expect to know your grade throughout the semester.

This class focuses to much on religion. It is hard to follow if you are not familiar with the Bible. The grading is tough, in a way that I don't understand what she wants. I can see that she is a good prof in the religion depart thought..
