Leslie has a unique approach to teaching that has even earned her a reward. You have homeworks, group projects, and tests every three weeks. The tests aren't too difficult since there only so much can be covered in five classes. She really cares about your success and understanding of the material and will work with you if you're not getting it.

She definitely deserves that teaching award she got. She is an awesome lecturer. I learned a ton in dev bio, I think that having a small class size defiantly played a big role on the class being so focused, interactive and creating a friendly learning environment. You do got to put some work in, but Leslie is always there every step of the way :-)

Leslie is the most interactive teacher you will ever have in college. She will know your name, is interested in your success, very approachable and very enthusiastic. You have an assigned scientific paper that is discussed every class and you will have to answer a question on it. Tests are hard but if you understand the papers you will be ok.

I did research work in her lab for a few semester. Leslie is a very difficult professor to work with outside the classroom.

I took cell bio in 2003 - I thought her tests weren't too bad. I even remember her using dancing to explain chaperones in DNA folding. She got annoyed once when I asked a question in review session -the question was beyond what was on the exam so it wasn't uncalled for. She's an ok lecturer/professor but I can't recommend working in her lab.

She is the best teacher! She tries to make class interactive and fun since it's a smaller class than her 2020 class (way small! like 14 ppl)and puts up webcasts to prepare you before class so you can discuss it. I didn't even have to study much before her exams, awesome exams! If you support it, she'll give you points.

I struggled to be interested while she was lecturing. She doesn't involve the class well. It is quite boring. If you can study and learn the important stuff on your own that will help but then she throws some random questions on the test that have little to do with anything lectured or read. I was not satisfied with the class.

Unless you're a mind reader I wouldn't recommened taking it from her. Her tests have ridiculous questions, she lectures too fast, and be prepared to take a beating if you try and ask her a question. She gets very angry, especially if you try and talk to her one on one. Take Gard, he's hard but very predictable.

absolutely horrendous. take GARD!!! please, for your own sake, this woman is evil and has her favorites. she doesn't teach well at all, refuses to answer insightful questions, and leaves all of her grading up to power-trippin' TA's. avoid at all costs!

she is energetic, but she makes things too complicated. tons of memorization, but is good prep for more advanced biol courses. when asked questions, she gets really short and doesn't know what they are talking about

Very difficult to understand. Questions students for asking questions. Seems irritated that a student doesn't understand a topic from her lecture.

She says she wants you to know the general overall idea, but then tests specifics...BEWARE!!! Took two of the four tests to figure that out.
