Each class is a lecture so prepare to take good notes and listen carefully. Pay special attention to any excerpts of a piece of literature that she may recite in class, these are likely to be on a test. Also, prepare for some of the toughest grading you've ever experienced with little to no feedback. Overall, Freeman is an engaging, solid prof.

Comment:

There are 3 papers: 3 page, 5, and 8 page. It doesn't sound like a lot but the grading is intense & the amount of reading you have to do is unbelievable for a full time studen. It is necessary to do all of the reading in order to pass the midterm and the final exam, both of which are incredibly difficult. They consist of ID's, memorization, essays.

Probably one of the best english professors I've had. Very understanding, motivational, and really into her work which makes her lectures interesting. Class is very fast paced so keep up with readings - she knows her stuff WELL so you will not do well if you don't at least skim. Exams are identifications of passages from texts.

So she is a great lecturer and her classes are filled with analysis. Sometimes it gets confusing and you don't know what to focus on. Although she is very intelligent &I enjoyed her class,her exams are super long!The final required from me to fill 3 full booklets.We had 3 papers for this class,a midterm and a final.My advice:Take it with a good TA!

A brilliant professor! Her lectures are so jam-packed with interesting insight and analysis of the texts, that sometimes it's a struggle to keep up with my note-taking during lecture! Highly challenging material, but she really helped me learn to think critically. She expects alot from students, but hey, this ain't high school anymore, folks!

She is a great lecturer. However, she isn?t so great when it comes to talking to her in person. She?s very cold, abrupt and a little rude. Though this is an undesirable trait, she still gives a great lecture, so if you have any questions, just stick to your TA.

She definitely does not take any nonsense. She is very straightforward, but she is quite personable once you get to know her. Extremely intelligent and engaging. Highly recommend if you are interested in the subject matter.
