Comment:

Ultsch is an amazing professor, contrary to what many students believe, she portrays herself as strict sometimes but she just wants to push her students because she knows they can do more than they think. She is very willing to help her students outside of class even if she lives 3 hours away. I have taken her for 3 years and will continue to do so

Comment:

I had a hard time with my language requirement and she was great in class and office hours. She cares about students and understands that not everyone wants to take language. i don't know why anyone would right that she's nasty. If anything, she would always help understand what the answer was and why; extra credit if you want it, and funny too.

Italian 3 with Ultsch was straightforward. The tests were easy if the concepts are understandable.

Comment:

Ultsch can be very vague with what she wants from her students. She gives A LOT of homework almost forgetting that students have 4 or 5 others classes with a lot of work too. Can be a little nasty if you don't give the correct response, and she also split the class up into advanced and not advanced which I thought was messed up. Very intimidating.

took her online class for LT credit. workload was great, just a couple of tests that she gave days to do. i was surprised that the class actually turned out interesting bc i did not want to take a lit. her lectures really helped. nice professor, generous with grades; always gets back to you quick with email and gives extra credit if you need it.

Her class can be pretty tough but you learn a lot from it. If you struggle with Italian, she will go out of her way to help you out. She is always willing to work with you one on one during extra help. She'll give you credit just for trying. Worth taking if you're interested in Italian for a major or a minor. Or if you're stuck taking Italian 3.

Excellent professor, she cares about her students. You have to work for it, but getting an A is not difficult. Gives so many opportunities to do well, has long office hours, and responds to emails quickly. Show that you care about her class and you'll be fine.

Comment:

Dr. Ultsch is the best professor I've encounter while taking a language. She keeps the lecture alive and bonds with her students. Homework every night is a given, but if you pay attention to the lectures it's easy, and she goes over it the next day in class. Tests are pretty straight forward, 4 total, 1 per chapter. Be sure to have the textbook!

Take her for anything she teaches, you wont' regret it. Best italian teacher at Hofstra and also coordinates the program. Knows her stuff and wants you to succeed. Easy grader too!

Nice professor, takes the time to go through everything, makes sure you undestand. Makes powerpoints to explain ? book. She's funny, wants to get to know students. Took for lang rewuirement and thought I would get a B- based on my test grades but she gave me an A-! The class is pretty laid back but participation I guess got me that A-. Sweet!

Just took ital. 2 w/her. She made it really enjoyable and easy. lets you rewrite the comps and counts only the 2nd grade, pretty much tells you wahts on every test, and is funny and very clear in class. cares about whether you understand, answers your questions and gets to know the students. she saved my gpa and graduation! molto grazie, profesora!

the class was easy to get an A in! i took it for 4 weeks online. all i had to do was keep up with the reading. her lectures are a big help, she's very available thru email and she gives you like 3 days to do a straightforward test! i was actually surposed i liked the class so much cause i took it just for LT credit. great prof easy class!

i took this class summer session, what a breeze! the stories were hilarious, the quizzes were easy and she even gives you the option of writing a short story instead of taking the final! great prof, always answered emails quick, gives extra credit too. easy A, definitely take her for anything she teaches online!

any student who takes the class in the fall and doesn't know his/her grade by 1/6 when s/he writes a negative review and the professor files grades before xmas is clearly not on the ball. 'nuf said. prof. ultsch wants you to learn, but if you're taking ital 2, she expects you to bring basic understanding of italian to the table. expect to work.

You're screwed if you've taken Italian for years in high school and still know absolutely nothing. The professor tries everything--including English--to make sure students understand, but it's up to you to do the work. If not, you screw yourself. If you think you should be in level 1, speak up.

My first online course and she made it fairly simple. All you had to do was Read, make a few comments the discusson board, and take the midterm/final. She gave 3 days to the the exams, which were fairly simple. Overall Easy Class!!! Great Professor

Listen is a foreign language so of course it will be difficult but she makes it fun and easy to learn. If you keep up the work and practice this class should be an easy A. She's very helpful and lays out everything for her students. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!

I signed up for this class because I wanted to start a new language that had some relation to my prior studies in french and spanish and Prof. Ultsch made the transition really enjoyable. She's funny and really cares about students individually. She grades fair and her tests are always the same format. You still have to study hard though. Take her!
