So in the honors class you have a (one page, double spaced) paper due each week on a "philosophical problem" which are presented on those days. From what I saw the grades varied from 85-95, so not too bad. A few "pop" quizzes that are announced. We didn't have to buy the textbook since he just emailed us sections. Also got a grade bump to 4.0

No homework. 3 short papers and no final. However sitting through his lectures are torture unless you genuinely enjoy philosophy. He takes attendance and grades easy on the papers. The not-so "pop" quizzes are hard.

He has been by far the best teacher I have had at Bentley. He is always willing to help and have you interested. I don't like philosophy but enjoyed attending class. If you show effort and are willing to do a little work youĂ‚´ll do fine.

Definitely the hardest ph101 professor at Bentley. That being said, it's still not too hard. It's worth taking because you actually learn without a significant amount of effort. The three papers he requires are only 1 page maximum.

i recommend him. not too bad of a class. take notes and study if you have a quiz. only 3 papers in the semester with various quizzes. doesn't have a final like others do, just a final quiz. take him!

He is the most brilliant professor I ever had and gave me a huge interest in philosophy. Smith focuses on concepts more than the history but he is the best!

This class was flat out suffering. If you want someone to pay devil's advocate for a period with you about whether or not you exist, go ahead and take it. If not, take any of the other much easier teachers.

Lorne's a really great guy, you only have to write a one page paper each week and it's impossible to do very poorly on them. Class is really interesting and enlightening. Would definitely take him again over any of the other joke teachers.

Smith is really nice, but a hard grader. only a few questions on quizes so if you get one wrong, you will do poor in the class. No textbook, he emails you pages from his 300 page textbook HE wrote. Smart guy, hard class. Other philo teachers are SO much easier.

I enjoyed this class because it challenged the way I looked at things at the time. It makes you think critically in ways you aren't asked to in normal circumstances. The papers are only a page long, but they're difficult and time consuming. I'd take Lorne if you cared about learning and didn't mind a challenge.

Interesting class, different approach from other teachers. Three papers and a few quizzes makes up grade. Can be mentally stressful at times but learned a lot from the class. Would take again.

Lorne is a good dude who really wants you to learn philosophy. Definitely not the easiest philosophy class, but if you're into thinking and don't mind getting frustrated sometimes it's worth taking.

He is a great professor. 3 one page papers worth 25% each, quiz total(about 5-6 for the semester), and drops lowest quiz grade. The papers are REALLY hard to do unless you can think philosophically. I did not get a 4.0 in the class, but DEFINITELY learned alot in the class.

Pretty hard course. 3 Papers worth 75% of your grade, one page each but he is extremely peticular...took me longer to write one page than to write 5 pages for other classes...quizzes account for other 25%...those aren't too bad as long as you review notes...class is always discussion, pretty interesting but can get annoying...decent overall prof.

You have to write 3 one-page papers which are actually very difficult and each are worth 25% of your grade. The rest of your grade is 5-6 quizzes which are very challenging. The class is somewhat interesting but sometimes hard to understand.
