He's always willing to help if you put forth the effort. If you ask him to read a paper before grading he will, and he will give you constructive feedback. If you work hard you can get an A. I did and I generally get B-C's in English.

I almost done with his class, my class was based off my major (nursing) so everything we did in his class revolved around nursing. His readings are a little extreme. His class as far as work was ok. If u ever need help around just go to his Office Hours and set up writing conferences (They REALLY do help). He's a good professor overall.

If you don't pass this class, its because you didn't do any of the work. Just read what he says to read and you'll do fine. He's a great guy but if you don't ask for help, he won't help you. And if you do ask a question, he will explain it until you understand. I would take him again.

Eng 326 is a Shakespeare class. I took it over the summer and we read 7 plays in 5 weeks. It was intense, but I learned alot. Dr. Guidry is EXTREMELY knowledgeable. I especially enjoyed the class discussions. The quizzes were easy if you read the material and the papers were easy because Dr Guidry let us know exactly what he expected from us.

He's picky with his grading. It's not impossible to do well on his assignments, though. Be sure to write your papers very thoroughly; they will boost your grade because the quizzes are somewhat difficult as are the group responses.

Overall, Dr. Guidry is a good professor. He is really into Beowulf and the Canterbury Tales so make sure to thoroughly study those works should you take him. He is extremely knowledgeable and is a pretty fair grader. I didnt find him to be rude or condescending like some others though he was monotone and boring at times.

HE WAS THE WORST TEACHER I EVER HAD! He yelled at students, didn't care what they had to say, purposfully graded unfairly and went out of his way to fail students he didn't like. People tried to complain and he fail ALL OF THEM! I barely scraped a D! DON'T TAKE STRUCTURES- TAKE HISTORY OF ENGLISH! I promise it's worth not taking Guidry! UGH- BAD!!

No, he's a good professor. The class was perfectly challenging in proportion to its level (most class are too hard, or too damn easy). His quizzes are very doable, though the comprehensive final can be a bit too much if you don't study (a lot of info). He's a cool guy, and knows a lot. I'd take him again.

If you are the least bit sensitive to extreme sarcasm or bitterness I would not take his class. He's comes off as if he is belittling you a bit, and I definately did NOT like him b/c of this!

I found the class to be pretty boring. Class is entirely lecture with occasional handouts. He focuses a lot on Celtic literature, Celtic history, and Celtic words. A lot of British history is talked about as well. Stories are mostly in Old English. He's very understanding and willing to help if you're struggling(just ask).

Very easy teacher as long as you listen in class and at least skim the reading. His quizzes are harder than his tests-- study guides make the tests look WAY harder than they are!

Guidry is an enthusiastic teacher who knows a great deal about British literature. He cares that students learn and progress in his class. You have to do the reading to do well, but if you do you'll be rewarded. He really made me think about the ways literature helps readers to understand life. I definitely recommend this teacher.

Very interesting and knowledgeable. Tests are over readings and lecture. Fair grading. 5-page paper is a snap if you have done any of the reading and paid attention in class. I enjoyed his class.

steer clear!!! Awful professor, grades papers unfairly, will not talk with you about it unless you make an appt. to see him in his office in advance, and if you do that it still doesn't help.

Very knowledgeable about Eng lit. Take lots of notes and DO THE READING. Quizzes are easy (if you read) and he gives a review for midterm/final one week beforehand. The papers are not difficult with varied topics available. He doesn't count off for a different opinion, only an unproven argument.
