I liked the class initially. I was very interested in learning about all the different diseases that affected America and the world but towards the end of the semester beware she starts to get tired of the class and you can tell. I do recommend the class but be prepared to write the paper how she wants you to whether its correct or not.

Comment:

Professor Caffrey is amazing. I've always been fascinated by US History, but she increased my interest so much that I decided to become a history major! Politically, she is as far left as you can go, but, being a moderate, it doesn't bother me. Reviewing the powerpoints is a MUST. The exams come directly from them. Overall great teacher and person.

Comment:

Dr. Caffrey is a very sweet person and very helpful. She is very knowledgable about Women's History and gives a lot of good information. The only downside of the class is there is a lot of reading,you have to do a 10 page research paper and the final exam had an essay question worth 70% of the grade! Otherwise- great class!

Comment:

Seemed like it was going to be a hard class but it really wasn't! Gives a lot of reading but don't really have to do it. Goes over everything you need to know. Very easy grader. Mid-term was part take home and all you had to do was write her ppts into paragraphs, other part matching. Final is a little bit harder. Great prof and wonderful class!

Dr. Caffrey is a helpful professor,she knows her stuff....but her powerpoints are tooo long so dont expect to get out early...her tests are very hard....the matching questions are only 20% and a essay part is 80%.....if you like to be challenged..then i recommend you take this class...

Very helpful! Lectures can be boring, but she is a wonderful and understanding professor. Dr. Caffrey cares about her students and makes great efforts to help everyone. Excellent class.

A REALLY REALLY GREAT TREACHER. Knows what she is talking about. Very nice and understanding if your having a hard time at home. Go to class! The powerpoints are the test. Read the Fredrick Douglass book. Not only is it it interesting, it's also a test grade. Loved her!!!!!!

My favorite teacher this semester because she provides all her notes on powerpoints and if you miss them, you can probably e-mail her for them. If you copy the notes from the powerpoints verbatim, you should do good on the essays and if you read the assigned chapters, you'll do good on the tests.

Stay away at all costs. This was the worst class I've ever taken...despite being a history major. So many assignments that even the dorks complained...a paper that takes all semester to write. Teaches so much from a liberal, Marxist and Feminist point of view that she does a disservice to much of the material. One upside is that she is helpful.

Teacher is VERY HARD. You must come to class and pay attention every day. Essay tests are very hard and the whole test requires you to study A LOT in order to do good. She gives out TONS of extra credit work, however it doesnt help because she is very difficult. Tests are over 5 chapters at a time. Overall i would highly recommend staying away

Dr. Caffrey was great at keeping my attention. I usually hate history but she made it very interesting. I actually learned a lot of valuable information that I will keep with me a long time.She is a very approachable professor. If you have any problems she wll be more than happy to help you. I enjoyed her class overall. Although It is lots of work!

Tests are mostly essay (must memorize class notes for those), but she gives the essay questions out ahead of time, so you can study those specific things. If you don't write good essays, don't take her. Also, we had to write 3 papers. Kinda boring, but endurable. Don't ever expect to get out of class early- you won't (unless it's the last day).

Comment:

Good teacher. You must take detailed notes and memorize the notes for the essay exams. Requires a one-page discussion essay every Friday. Very specific on her essay tests, but she does have 20 matching quest. on her test (20%). The essay is worth 80%. I didn't read the book, but memorized the notes. Gives you essay test quest. ahead of time.

Comment:

Dr. Caffrey is brilliant. I loved the class and learned a lot. There is a lot of reading and keeping a journal of pre-class and in-class notes. Seems like a lot of work but it helps you stay caught up on the reading.
