Comment:

Really great professor overall and super informative class. She's tough on midterm and final so answer exactly as she says. Always respond to the discussion boards, easy points. I literally NEVER opened the book because her powerpoints have all the info you need, so if you show up for class don't worry about the book.

Comment:

Professor Dakake gave truly informative and interesting lectures. However, I felt that she graded the final and midterm somewhat harshly, especially for an intro class. The group project was a good chance to boost your grade but with so few total grades it was tough to move it up by much.

Comment:

Her lectures always flew by and I learned so much that I didn't know. She is very knowledgeable and good at mediating conversations that can get a bit intense. There is a lot of readings to do that you need for the essays you will write in this course.

She's great as a teacher. Definitely knows her stuff! Had some students who were ignorant and complete bigots - she handles them like a boss and shuts them down! Lectures are very interesting. Taking some notes will help. Look at the texts/readings as study guides, too, so you don't miss anything. Passionate and humble Prof! Take her if you can!

Such an elegant professor, so intelligent and kind. I never thought I'd care for religious studies but the way she teaches is makes it very approachable. She is a true gem, take her class she is very knowledgeable and if you came to learn you will not be disappointed.

Very passionate about what she does, does a great job of guiding the class with questions so that it feels more like friendly discussion at times. She opens up the Qur'an in a gentle yet powerful way, and is available for extra help and questions. Grading is very clear.

My favorite professor at GMU! She is very passionate about religion and diversity. I've taken four classes with her. Clear expectations: 4 papers, discussion board, attendance, final exam. Do the readings (~20 pages per class), write papers about those readings, go to class. Very straightforward. I always look forward to her lectures!

She's one of the best Professors I have had at Mason. She has so much passion for her subject and every lecture and discussion is interesting. She is helpful, I turned in a paper late and still received a full grade after explaining. Attending class is all you need to get a good grade.

She is a very nice professor her exams are easy if you listen to her lectures and study its not multiple choice that scared me at first but i managed to get a 95. her lectures are very intellectually stimulating and it doesn't feel like a class but a friendly discussion.

Professor Dakake is an amazing professor. Moderate work load, discussions (6-7 total) midterm, final, and term paper outlined in the syllabus. She really opened my eyes to so many similarities in monotheism. Attendance isn't mandatory, but its worth it. TAKE HER AND DO THE WORK AND YOU WILL NOT REGRET IT!

She is a very intelligent woman, however the amount of work she expects from you for an elective is ridiculous! there's no time to really enjoy what you're reading because you have a paper due! This class stressed me out so much and she doesn't reply to emails. You have 4 papers, discussion board, attendance, final take home exam = too much!

Well she is really intelligent and brilliant in her field. She is also very very open minded. She totally respects everyones opinions and always has a knowledgeable answer to almost every question you have. Excellent professor who knows her material. I took several courses with Prof. Dakake and an independent study. She is very helpful. Those who complain just don't want to do the work. If aren't interested in the topic, don't take the class. If you do, don't complain that the course "isn't important." You decided to take it so do the work.

Probably most reasonable prof I've had so far. Extremely knowledgeable, great communicator, explains topic very well. Handles controversial issues gracefully. Lets you know exactly what she wants on exams, gives very clear study guides. Take really good notes and fill in study guides with them, reproduce what she talked about, and you'll do great!

Biggggggggg B itch. Gives a mid-term right after spring brake, does not post any slides on line, reads off slides in class.. for the whole class. Do not take her.
