Marian is a fascinating woman, very much in love with her subjects. I have taken 6 classes with her and I must say that her Intro to Theatre class is very different from her other classes, almost like having a new professor. She really cares about her students and wants them to do well. Work with her and you will do fine. She cares!

She knows her stuff about theatre, and often plays devil's advocate with you. If you do not like class discussions, then do not take this class. She calls on people a lot. The tests are decent, and the study guides are slightly helpful. If you keep up with your reading, you will be alright. Do NOT expect an easy A.

Despite the reviews I had read on this site about her, I still registered for her class. Turns out, it was a very enjoyable class. Yes, her tests are hard but they come straight from the book. Sometimes she is not clear with her expectations so clarify with her. Grades tests very hard but her projects are easy grades.

She is a great professor and passionate about what she teaches. All the people just trying to meet a gen Ed requirement seem to confuse this with being boring or difficult. Yes, her tests are hard, but they are fair. Someone said she acts like all of her opinions are right. She plays devil's advocate constantly, so that's unlikely.

Marian makes the class interesting, but has very hard tests. You need to keep up with the reading. She has a quiz at the beginning of every class based on the class before and the assigned reading. These quizzes and the tests include tiny details no one remembers. You have to study and keep up with the reading.

Tests are straight from the study guides she gives you. Yes, there are occasionally questions that require you to have read the textbook or argue an opinion about a certain subject, god forbid! I had no interest in theater whatsoever and took this as a gen ed requirement. It was very interesting, the professor was great, and it was an easy A.

She is very intertaining in class, but do not let this fool you. Her test are extremely difficult, and you are never sure of what is on them. She gives you a study guide, but most of the test questions are not on there. They come from her brain. However, she grades papers fairly. I would not take her if I were you!

I despise this woman. I took this class for my art gen ed. She is really smart and good at what she does, but she expects everyone to LOVE everything abt theatre. Wayy too dreamy, spacey, and unorganized. She thinks her opinions are the right ones. Fair paper grader though.

Coming from someone who entered her intro to theatre class with a past and passion in theatre--- DO NOT TAKE. She expects everyone to have her level of knowledge of every aspect of theatre. Her study guides are minimally helpful and she often is indecisive. I do not recommend taking her unless necessary for Major/Minor requirements.

Marian is a pretty cool teacher. GROUP STUDY for tests!!! During your group study session, call Prof. Zielinski to ask her about anything you're unsure of. Just TAKE NOTES from her lectures. Just take a genuine interest in her class and you'll do well. I got by without much reading, but be able to make something good up if she calls on you...

Had her for intro theatre. Was extremely hard- she is a very smart lady and knows her stuff, but expects everyone else to be on her level. She is ALL over the place. Absolutely ridiculous.

Great teacher. The only reason people dislike her is because she doesn't make theatre a breeze class like people want. Take compotent notes and show up to class and you will have no problem. She doesn't put up with people who waste her time. I have nothing but the upmost respect for Prof Zielinski

Marian is the WORST teacher I have EVER had. She was not helpful at all and was such a tough grader that I got a B in a class I was sure to get an A in. Her teaching methods are absolutely ridiculous and she is very rude and just not a nice person. TERRIBLE TEACHER. DON'T TAKE HER.

She is awful. The tests are ridiculous... very subjective. We had a TON of class discussions, and the tests would be based on class discussions. I would then write my answers based on what she said during the discussions, and she would mark it wrong. I dropped. Way to hard for an Intro class.

Dr. Zielinski is one of the very best professors at Mercer University! I am shocked that so many ppl rated her bad! She is a very nice, sweet person and she cares about her students a whole lot. She assigns a lot of homework but she is understanding if you can't get it done in time. Her class was interesting, mind-opening and most of all fun!

I really hated taking her for intro to Theatre, she is really a very had teacher. My advise is DO NOT TAKE HER!!! What she lectures on in class in rarely ever on the test. Even though I did not like her for 115, she was actually okay in 200, beginning acting. It maybe because I knew what to expect, but take it with someone else.

DO NOT take this class!! She does not teach it well but tries to make the test hard and abstract so that her students will not do well. She is nicer and gives more chances to those who have a theatre background and is overall a professor who does not care about teaching--in this "theatre" class we learned just took notes. Horrible, horrible!!

Oh, Zielinski...as a theatre person, I enjoyed the class, but the non-theatre people didn't like it. She changes the syllabus, which is frustrating, and she gets really disorganized when she directs productions at the Backdoor Theatre. However, she's still pretty cool, and she knows her stuff.
