Though he shows a sincere love for chemistry he is not entirely helpful. When asking questions he sometimes gives you a look of disgust and will zoom through the answer. He likes to ramble and does not re-phrase to clarify. He loves chemistry and research and his passion is great but he needs to slow down for this to be an undergrad course.

Organic is an incredibly difficult class, but I have not had a more helpful and clear professor in any discipline in college. He is always willing to help and re-explain and is fair in grading. If you have to take OChem, at least you can have him.

Yes, it is hard. Just because the class is doing "better than other years", doesn't mean that it should be made harder. Many inconsistencies between notes given and expectations. Much material is assumed that you know/ understand. He's very willing to help when you show immense initiative.Study hard;take light courses when in this class4good grade.

O. Chem is a difficult class, no doubt, but Dr. Erickson was more than willing to help you out. He challenged us to think instead of just giving us the answers and the quizzes everyday were hard but very helpful. I firmly believe that if I'd done the homework and read the book I could have gotten an A in the class.

Yeah. Ochem sucks. But you really can't blame the professor, he does the best he can and he wants you to learn. Ochem just sucks.

This teacher was a complete JERK! When you don't do well on tests, he says "you must not be doing the homework" instead of being willing to acknowledge that he might just be a poor teacher. Gives tests beyond the scope of what was taught and didn't get to a third of the subject matter during my class, which really hurts the class for their future.

I entered Organic chem. with fear that only grew as the semester went on, realizing that I would never be taught anything but would depend on friends and out of class time to learn the material (since class was useless, but required since there were everyday quizzes on material randomly selected from chapters.)

Erickson has been "teaching" this class for 20 years now and still makes each class incredibly boring. Each day is the same: the overachievers in the class ask questions beyond the necessary material, and Erickson doesn't teach the needed material. You might as well just read the book and not go to class, but theres daily quizes.

Goes way too fast, tests are hard, but great at giving lots of extra credit. Loves chemistry and knows a lot but not too good at bringing it down to an undergrad level.
