I dont understand all these negative comments about him. He is very helpful. The course is lengthy of this class but theres nothing he can do about it. He gives one week notification for tests and hands out objective for the tests which makes easy for the preparation. Always ready to help. I will recommend taking this class with him.

I do not have a problem with Mark Kuhlman, but I have a problem adapting to the way that he teaches notes and presents his material. You will be tested on things that are presented during lecture, so if you do not attend lecture then you will be missing valuable points on the tests. Turn in all your lab work, & study for at least 90 minutes per exm

He is a good teacher. He teaches everything you need to know, gives plenty of examples, and goes over the study guide. If you take good notes and study your good to go. He gives at least a weeks notice before a test/quiz. Attendance is mandatory, show up for labs, each lab missed and not made hurts your grade.

I don't understand all these negative reviews, he's not a bad teacher by any means, and his tests are not difficult like everyone says. All you need to do well in his class is to focus on what he's saying and take good notes based on everything he says. I got a 98 in his class with the same effort I put into any other class, you just need to try.

My class was a music classroom with 48 students in it. Mark, the teacher, decided that it would be a great idea to go ahead and use an overhead for this type of class. I for one prefer power points but that is just me. He grades on more than what he presents in class as well. Plus, when you take notes and go back after it looks like a mess...

Show up to labs and lectures, every exam you take is based off of everything you learn in either of those two settings. Material on exams is always a little beyond what he tells you in the objectives, study up at least a week in advance. His teaching style is a little scattered, so take organized notes, and honestly, take him as a last resort.

His tests are very hard. All essay and short answer questions. No multiple choice. His outlines are exactly what you can expect to see on the test, so study them hard. Take good notes. The book is pretty useless. You will never know how well you are doing in his class because he doesn't grade anything until the end of the semester.

He rushes through the notes and does not explain anything into detail. If thats what I wanted I would've just searched things on google than wasting my time there. The whole class is based upon the lab practicals and exams. All the lectures are wasted time and pointless. He made us buy the book, haven't referred to once and its halfway through.

I took Mark for Bio 263, I wish I had read this site first. He is not a good teacher, 1/2 of the class dropped out at mid-terms, than another 1/4 later. He doesn't teach in lab at all, he has you watch a cat dissection video, than you are suppose to go at it. Don't take him!!!

Took him for human A & P and had to drop after 2 months. His exams are nothing to deal with the study guides, he doesn't teach you anything in lab because he believes in "self learning," he doesn't clarify anything in lecture because he doesn't know so he just says "its very complicated." Took a diff teacher and got an A!

Comment:

Mark is the absolute worst science teacher at MCC. He should no longer be a teacher, he does not teach. In lab it's all up to you, he does not teach one thing. While in class he doesn't even write notes down, it's all up to you to listen. His tests are a joke, and are just blank pages. DO NOT TAKE HIM! Unless you want a terrible grade.

He was stuck on old terms and not aware of the new ones that our textbook used. when the new terms were written on the essay part of an exam I was marked off and had to defend myself. He couldn't explain the materials without his notes. He also gave NO direction in lab, especially with dissection of the cats. DON'T TAKE HIM!!

Very hard class simply because it is all memorization!! Make sure you take good notes or record the lectures so you can go back to them when studying the objectives for the test! You will spend A LOT of time studying for these classes so be prepared and don't overload on classes when you take these if you expect an A.

A tough class and tough teacher. He expects a lot out of his tests and they are all basically memorization and essay questions. He is a nice guy and definetely makes the subject interesting. My advice is just expect to spend a lot of time studying in his class and take good detailed notes.
