Comment:
Hardest class I've ever taken and it's mainly bc math is my worst subject. Still passed the class, bc Mark curved/took partial credit on exams and assignments. He has a voice that puts you to sleep, so I only look at the lecture notes. I do not recommend an online math course, especially if you're not good at math bc calculus is awful.

Dr. Lewis's Rate My Professor is misunderstood. He is quite helpful and there for students. He can be quite funny if you have a good class. A tad confusing, but realizes you are taking a hard course so compensates for that in your grade. You get a full review sheet for each test. Awesome professor!

Dr Lewis doesn't teach. He copies example problems out of the book onto the blackboard and expects you to understand it right off the bat. If you ask a question, he'll repeat what he already said as if you hadn't heard him the first time. He grades extremely harsh. Also, his voice is terribly annoying. Avoid at all costs.

moderately difficult class, although he does his best to make the material easy to understand. make sure you do all your homework to fully understand concepts. practice exams are almost exactly like real exams, so make sure you do those too.

He is a demanding teacher, who doesn't stand for a lot of excuses. I can see why a lot of people dislike him. He doesn't have a lot of sensitivity, so he can make you feel like you're an idiot if you are used to being coddled. He knows what he is doing and wants people to succeed.

All the negative reviews make me sad :( I thought Dr. Lewis was incredibly helpful, his notes are very clear and he gives a practice exam before every exam. As long as you do those, and understand what you're doing (which you should be able to if you listen in class and ask questions), you should easily get an A or B on the exams.

This guy is the absolute worse teacher I've had at Kent. He makes you like if you don't know everything already (that he's supposed to be teaching you now), then you're just dumb. Annoying voice so it's hard to pay attention, I'd rather someone with a thick accent than to hear him say mmm-kay again! AVOID AT ALL COST POSSIBLE!!!

He proves everything to you! And when you get to the practice exam in class he finally tells you what you were suppose to learn from his lessons. Rather annoying, but he is willing to help, but not very helpful sometimes.

He said one thing profound this semester: "I am not a teacher" He is more interested in showing you how smart he is at math than teaching you.

He IS willing to help... But that's not really enough. He moves about 10x too fast for a calculus class. Many times you'll still be copying notes from 10 minutes ago, just because he moves so darn fast. Sometimes I just wished someone would yell "SLOW DOWN" at the guy... And he grades everything VERY tough, especially the homework.

While he may not always give clear explanations, I have never logged so much time in one professor's office, nor ever met a professor so willing to set aside time to help students. An excellent professor who truly cares about students. 100% fair.

Seriously consider taking the class with a different teacher. He does not curve, nor give extra credit. Grade is based off of 3 tests, a final, and homework. Does not explain problems clearly. Most ppl in class got A's in other math classes, C's in this 1
