I didn't really like Dr. Smith. He drops your two lowest quiz grades and duplicates your highest one so that's nice. He says he gives pop-quizzes but he almost always tells you when they are. He was pretty boring. He goes off on a lot of tangents. I was just bored out of my mind and half asleep always. It wasn't that difficult though..

I took HST 180 with Dr. Smith and I loved it. I heard how difficult the class was, but it really wasn't that bad at all. He is really passionate, but he's also quirky and funny so he keeps history interesting. I took a history elective my next semester just to take another course with him. You definitely should take a class with him!

Dr. Smith is super great! He is very good at connecting with his classes and is rather hilarious! He has inspired me on many occasions to deepen my faith and love history. I took a 300 level history course just to take an elective with Dr. Smith, and I have not regretted it! Very personable and a genuine Christ-follower.

Dr. Smith may just be the only prof worth taking at 7:50AM. He's a quirky man who's truly passionate about what he does. He provides an outline for each lecture, jot down notes on it while he lectures and use it as your study guide for quizzes and tests. History is not my major, but I'm going out of my way to take another class with this man.

Mark Smith is an amazing teacher and practically like another grandfather to me. He makes history enjoyable and simple. His quizzes were tough for me, but they helped me do well on the tests. He assigns hardly any papers. He gave a lot of wise life advice and jumped on chairs and tables. I highly recommend taking HST 180 with ONLY him.

I loved his energy in the classroom! He is absolutely hysterical, and he is more than willing to answer questions and discuss different topics. UNV-180 is just a sucky class, but if I had to take it again, I would definitely request him as a prof.

He is really good professor. He does teach history, so if history isn't your thing, you may not like it. Be sure you read your text, he purposefully leaves information out of his lectures that are in the readings for test questions. He is extremely entertaining and makes history fun to learn about. Highly recommended. You do have to write 2 papers
