Im an owner of a graphic design firm, if it was not for Marvin Hoshino id still be washing dishes at some restaurant. Thanks teacher. The ones that say he was the worst just didnt have the guts to take a class that exposed you to what life is really like once you get out of college.

Professor Hoshino doesnt teach anything rather gives a lecture each class on the pointlessness of our existence, how we are lazy & are wasting our time in college. Automatic A but you have to put up with his lovely personality & personal insults. Elementary school bully all grown up. you wont learn anything just pad your GPA

Go to class the first week and then never show up again and he'll give you an A (seriously). He's very sarcastic and doesn't take anything seriously. Everyone was on Facebook during class time. Don't expect to learn anything if you take his class.

He looooves to hear himself speak and call people, AND what they?re wearing, ?stupid.? If you ever have to ask him a question, make very certain that it?s not a dumb one because he will put you on BLAST! COME DRESSED LIKE A DESIGNER. He?s not afraid to humiliate people or point out whose hair or outfit looks the best (including other professors).

lol...((positives)) he is very insightful, in his own way. He?s willing to help those who show motivation. If you come to class (and stay the whole class) you can expect to get a really good grade, possibly an A. ((negatives)) he's a little pompous, obnoxious, constantly sarcastic and self-righteous.

Nowadays, I am a professional Graphic Designer working for P&G Design Department. Most of my strong design bases comes from the classes with Professor Hoshino. He encouraged me to follow this career path and certainly did not make it easy, since all great things come from struggle.

In Spring '03, he took students to 2 free NY events: Lincoln Center ballet and an art show. Talks your ears off, but is a good professional artist w/ industry friends. Trouble is, he's got experience, but his experience won't help you. He thinks you're just there for the grade. And if you really care about the subject, you should do it by yourself.

I had this guy years ago and hated every class. He is so arrogant that it is not worth asking questions. As I am a design professor now, I realize how poorly he taught me. It is not surprising to see such comments as he is still the same. Unfortunately students are stuck taking his classes due to lack of professors or his seniority.

A great professor. The people that say he is bad can't follow simple directions (ie. click the mouse where he tells you in photoshop). He answers all questions and explains everything, but people are so afraid to ask him questions. 80% of the grade is just showing up to class. He has a lot of experience in photoshop /photography. DON'T BE AFRAID.

I agree he's not clear and sometimes not very helpful and favors males (i'm female), BUT it's a very easy class. Come to class on time & show some genuine interest, there should be no problem. He keeps a mental log of your progress, there were no midterms or weekly projects, just one final project.
