An excellent choice. Fair amount of reading for a liberal arts class. She is brilliant and elevates you to a new level after each class session. She's an extremely tough grader, but a fair grader; she'll give out an A if you earn it, but you absolutely must earn it. She really cares about her students and treats you like an adult. Take her.

I hate rhetoric but found nothing wrong with the professor. I submitted numerous garbage papers that got As and Bs. IDK what everyone else here is saying about her being a tough grader- I didn't start any of my papers until the day they were due.

Sublime. Most competent professor in the school. One of those classes which actually make you learn stuff. You can't learn what she can teach just by reading a book. Brutal grader and editor, yet an unbelievably nice person. Focuses on what you learn, little on how you do it. Please, do yourself a favor and take her class.

Perfect workload. Mostly poems, which I quickly read during class discussion. You dont have to read the books (which are short or we only read fragments of) unless you're writing an essay on one of them. 3 papers (longest is 7 pages) + 1 midterm. I'm naturally good at libarts, so managed well but not an easy A. She is a tough grader but very caring

She consistently gave me B's and B-'s even though I worked extremely hard on every essay. That being said, she pushed me to write to the best of my ability. She improved my writing drastically. I finally earned an A on the final essay. I highly recommend her if you want to improve upon your writing; however, it is not an easy A by any means.

She's the best teacher I've had at Babson so far. Incredibly helpful and really cares about her students. Gives great feedback, but makes you work for a good grade. You won't regret taking this professor

Prof. O'Donoghue was life changing. If you don't want to work, then don't take her. But if you want to learn, and actually improve, I cannot recommend her enough. Regardless of your writing ability prior to the class, she will dramatically improve it. Participation and homework are essential. Tough grader, but unbelievably rewarding. She's a gem!

You don't socialize with anyone in the class. The class is just her talking and then the students responding to her and one another. She is quite a tough grader in papers but not in the mid-term. She is sweet but can sometimes be boring. She definitely cares the most about participation and DO YOUR READINGS. Also, don't take your phone out.

Professor O'Donoghue is one of my favorite literature teachers I have ever had. She is very intelligent and it shows with the way she carries herself and how she speaks. I was very impressed by the literature she has written and the awards she has received. Unlike other Rhetoric1001 classes, we only read three novels, 2 of which weren't very long.

Prof. O'Donoghue changed my writing drastically in a great way. She expects you do the readings, and expects a lot of discussion. But, I actually wanted to participate in her class. She's very insightful. Absolutely fantastic and would take again, regardless of the rigor. She'll give out the A if you earn it, and I did. And I'm no typical lit guy.

Mary is a remarkable professor and by far one of the most intelligent ones at Babson. Although she does require a considerable amount of reading, her class was great. She's a pretty strict grader and it's hard to get away with BS in her class. Overall, highly recommended!

Her writing fiction class was difficult, with a lot of reading and a 2 or 3 page story due every single class...and a 6 pager and 12 pager due. I bagged an A-, but tons of work and exceptional participation couldn't snag me an A
