This prof is like a grandpa. He loves to tell stories which illustrate the various concepts very well. He is also very polite and is always available to answer questions. I haven't received my final grade yet, but feel very confident about the exam. If you do your work and pay attention to class, you'll enjoy the course and do well in the final.

Professor Carroll is a very nice guy, but he makes very little sense and struggles with speaking. He wants students to understand, but this is one of those classes where the reading makes more sense than the professor.

I have mixed feelings about him. His exam was different; mostly short answers. Know the material and you will be fine. He is a nice teacher, gives a lot of real life stories, but unfortunately they are not tested on the exam. If I cared about criminal law I would have preferred more emphasis on the law/class material but I liked his teaching.

Super nice guy, straightforward professor. He breaks the material down very well and is very open to questions. He also gives the class several handouts summarizing the major points. Anybody who gave him low ratings must have just not understood the material...

For those of you taking him simply because of what you have heard about his exam, it is not true. He does not use the Lexis/Nexis Q&A book. He is a good teacher though with a wealth of experience. He is helpful outside of class and responsive to student's concerns.

He is truly an example of the falsity of the belief that even hard work won't pay off as there are plenty of law students at JM that bust their butts for 3 years only to be unable find a job to pay off their debt. It is not true that you end up just a small-time lawyer out of JM, as he says!

Saves you the embarrassment of the self-hatred that the Socratic method â€" a ritual of subjugation purposely disabling a student â€" brings about. By not using the Socratic method and emphasizing the case study approach â€" he will not fail you both intellectually and professionally.

Wow - can't say as though I learned a darn thing in this class. Carroll's style is laid-back, which definitely was a welcomed change during the semester, but all in all, I don't feel as though I have a grasp of the subject after 14 weeks of this class. Not an effective teacher.

After the exam, I heard that a lot of the questions for his final were pulled from LexisNexis' Questions and Answers. I didn't have it, and still got an A-. So at this point, I have no problem telling you to go out and buy that, and go through the problems. You're bound to see some on the exam.

Buy the study aids! He does not write his own exam. I repeat buy the study aids. People were done with the final in 45 minutes, because the exam was the study aid verbatim, including type-os.

How can anyone seriously complain about a professor who (1) basically dictates the outline in class; (2) tells funny stories? I would take *any* class from Carrol.
