Great guy, encourages in-depth, genuinely enjoyable group discussions and had us read really interesting material. Introduced many of us to the genre of ethnography, which he is quite experienced in, having written in the field himself. As long as you have solid points in your essays and participate you'll do well.

Not a bad professor, but his instructions on homework and papers tend to be confusing/lacking in information on what to do. He's good at teaching in the classroom setting, though.

If you do all the papers and put effort into them, you should pass. You just have to ask him how he wants it and write it according to his prompt. He gives really good feedback and advice on what to do to make your paper better for the final draft. He always will answer questions and helps guide you to write your paper through activities in class.

Chooses great books with deep meanings. He is a professor that cares about his students. He is one of FSU's ABSOLUTE BEST! I am grateful to have had the experience of being one of his students. He is down to earth and extremely personable. Will take as much time with a student as is needed. That is RARE!

Dr. Hoberman is a wonderful professor and an all around great guy. He was clear in explaining the content of the class(Folklore in America, yet he was laid back in his approach, and very helpful. He does encourage participation but never made anyone feel foolish. I was honestly sad to see the class end.

This class was basically a group discussion. It was easy to participate, and whatever you said, he would adjust to make sound amazing. This class helped me become a better analyst. I learned a lot in this class. It turned out to be a better class than expected.

had him for Folklore, not a fan of the Toelken book he used, but in my opinion he is one of the best english professors on campus. he really opened my eyes to a subject i had never even been aware of. he is enthusiastic about his material and helpful towards students. he tries to make his class as stress free as possible.

Took him for the graduate class in folklore. Such a great teacher. He's obviously very engaged in this field and wants to stress the usefulness and beauty of it. Easy on the eyes, but married and faithful. Good teacher, explains things well, lots of reading and writing, may seem like busywork but you'll see the logic behind the madness.

Dr. Hoberman is a fantastic teacher. He's kind, diligent with subject matter, but will take the time to help a student out. He's helping me with my MA thesis now and I really appreciate his help. Plus he is a ADORABLE! But that's a non-issue since he's MARRIED!

Nice guy, very laid back. Better than other professors for this class from what I've heard, and you won't fall asleep. Very easy grader, but that could be a good thing or a bad thing depending on how serious of a writer you are. Also, feels like he has to be your friend--whether you want him to or not! :)
