Comment:
Only gives lectures orally and hardly provides any class materials to study from. Oral lectures in itself aren't an issue, but he speaks too quickly and the lectures in general are convoluted. Many topics in his lectures don't even appear anywhere on the assigned textbook, yet his exams are mainly based on them. Take someone else.

He does not have any class materials. Does not use books or has any PowerPoint. No homework and assignments so you dont have any idea about questions. Doesnt give clear instructions about chapter to read. Its just two exam with 30% each and final with 40%. Dont take it

Graded on 3 exams. His tests are not easy because they are based on the lectures and the textbook (more emphasis on lecture). I recommend recording the lectures because he speaks fast and you are unable to write down everything he says. Also, he does not write much on the board so you have to pay attention to everything he says in class.

Over all he's a good professor, during his class his voice does tend to droll off if you aren't interested. his test are based off his lectures & Book chapters!!! (no test banks). He has some good/funny stories. people say "his test are easy" ( I've never experienced that!!!!). lots of information in lectures!!!! although, he is a caring professor.

He is full of knowledge, and illustrates his points with many examples, some are entertaining. He imparts a great amount of material. If you care about Accountancy, and truly want to learn something - take this professor.

Fantastic professor. Other profs - take note - this is how you teach! Really great lecturer - takes what I would consider fairly boring material and really makes it engaging and interesting with his fun stories. I learned a lot and he doesn't give unnecessary assignments. Midterm, final, easy and fast group project.

His lectures aren't everyone's thing, but I personally found them to be interesting. But the exams are incredibly hard and sometimes have questions on material he didn't talk about in class (forcing textbook use). The final had material we weren't asked to cover. Take someone else.

Terrible. Boring lectures that dont relate to the exam. Horrible. Exams are long consists of Mc and written response. Final is a killer. The lecturers drag on and he goes on tangents often. Tells stories that dont relate to the course. I would not recommend him. Do not take! Gpa killer

His style of teaching isn't for someone who relies on test banks to get through the accounting program at Baruch. His lectures span beyond the basics in which the book describes. Contrary to belief, reading the book is necessary for a basis of knowledge regarding this course! Record the lectures and do not get complacent! Excellent Teacher!!

I'm in my senior year and he is the worst professor I have had at Baruch. His lectures are so boring, he talks way to fast so you need to record them. He also tells way to many stories and gets off topic. His tests are so hard, every class average on each test was very low. I wouldn't take him if you are trying to pass. 2 midterms, 1 final & warren

Unlike other accounting professors, he does not use powerpoint. That by itself is not bad but he also only writes the bare minimum on the board(only writes some terms but too lazy to write his definitions). Even when he writes on the board, it is often difficult to decipher due to his poor handwriting. Must record the lectures to do well on exams.

His exams are strictly based off his boring lectures. He speaks fast, so u need to record his lectures and listen to them at least twice in order to do ok. He also gives questions from the book which he never used. FINAL IS HARD!

This class in general is just dumb. I don't blame the professor at all. Although his teaching style is horrible. No organization at all, constanly drifting in and out of things that have nothing to do with the exams. The worst part is the Waren case. 15% of the grade for a project that costs about 100$, and has absolutely no relevance to the course

Comment:
The lectures not based on any book, so there is no way to upgrade the knowledge. Lectures are also outdated. Lots of time is spent on learning trivial things no longer relevant in today's world. He does not give out the max # of A's he is allowed by the department. Does not work to benefit the student.

The exams are almost strictly based off the lectures, therefore you MUST show up to every class and take really good notes. There are two midterm exams, a final and a Warren case. START THE WARREN CASE EARLY. The exams can be a little tricky as it requires you to remember exactly what was said in that example. Great guy but I would not take him

Palley has tons of experience and stories which supplement the lecture so if you can remember examples, you'll do fine on the tests. However, he doesn't use the textbook so you shouldn't miss class. The warren case is a huge burden that doesnt belong in the class IMO but besides that, everything else is smooth sailing. easy tests, great guy!

Definitely come to class and take good notes, as 90% of midterm and final are from his lectures. The MCQs on the exams are very straightforward. You'll also have to draw a dataflow diagram on the midterm (easy), and write 2 short essays for the final. Overall, pretty good professor. Team assignment was OK, just use the examples that he posts on BB.

Palley is intelligent but he doesn't believe so much in tests rather he believes people understand the material. He doesn't do any practice questions before the exam which means you have only the notes and book which he doesn't use. I already got D in my first exam I am hoping that I can study hard for the second and the final and bring my grade up
