The BEST professor overall in History dept. Didn't have any Russian history background and now absolutely LOVE it. Great lecturer and super nice and always willing to help with your thesis and sources.

quiz after each 4 books read, 1 power point assignment not hard but time consuming. one final and book interview after each book (4). books were very easy to read just one really big book. attend to take notes if not readings will do but overall easy class with interesting professor.

Easy class. All quizzes are online and they are over the books that I never read. I do warn you though be ready for a 9 page paper to be dropped on you a week before finals. Overall you have to try not to pass

Alot of interesting reading. weekly discussion and quizzes on readings. midterm online and final is 3-5 page essay. offers alot of extra credit. lectures aren't crystal clear but do readings and you will do fine in course.

There was a lot of reading required for this course and like 9 books with quizzes and discussions on the reading. The midterm was multiple choice, a written final and a 5-7 page paper. You don't really need to attend lectures the midterm and final were based on reading, but you need to be there for quizzes. Easy class, but reading is a must.

Great teacher! If you are a history major taking Hist 4 with her is one of the smartest moves you will ever make! Do the reading, its a lot but if you don't do it, it will come back to get you! Can't wait to take another class with her!

Get ready for a lot of reading and busy work; however, as long as you do the work you are probably going to get an A. The work is easy, just a lot to do. Will work with you and help you more than most teachers at Fresno. Highly recommend

Really intelligent and helpful, DenBeste is very clear about what she wants out of the class. Read the books, do well on the essays and you'll be successful. Missing class can be bad due to weekly quizzes. She's very nice and easy to talk to. Everyone should have her for one class at least.

She did the teaching but had a graduate student grade most of our work so it was easy. Didn't do a lot reading, didn't take good notes, but still passed with a B. She gives you a study guide before the exams so it was okay. Pretty boring class

Highly recommend her. I took her Hist 142 class and it was work but I learned alot and got an A. I can't wait to have her again as a teacher. This teacher I recommend for History majors. You have to be a fool not to take at least one of her classes before you graduate.

I had her for Russian history. Although she is very knowledgable she has a rambling jumping back and forth between time and subject style. It was hard to stay interested in the lectures but the structore was interesting and good. The lectures would have too much information about too many subjects that you would not need to know.
