Karen was an excellent professor. Her class was interesting and adressed important issues in a fair way that encouraged everyone to share their viewpoint in discussion. She was fair and very interested in what she was teaching and in what we, as students, thought and had to say about what we were learning. It wasn't extremely hard, but it was well taught and much was learned by all who took part. An excellent experience.

This class is for science/engineering types. What else would you expect with it? She gives clear guidelines on what the papers should be, goes over papers (just make sure you know what you want to go over with her), and is quite willing to skim over parts of the class that really are fairly boring.

Karen is a horrible instructor and one of the worst that I ever had at UI. Her class is completely geared towards comp/and engineering majors. She had several students change topics numerous times - how riduculous.

I had mostly A's until the final paper. Got a C which was just enough to give me a final grade of a B. Talked to her and she was very rude. Warning: she does not like to argue over grades, whether or not you have a valid argument.

She is the best Tech writing professor on campus. She does not want to do anything that wastes your time, and puts things in realistic contexts. If you have to take Engl 317, take it from her (the other professors are atrocious).
