His exams are very hard! 4 tests each worth 15% of your grade-difficult because we didn't do many example problems in class. 4 As in the class out of 70 students. However, he's actually a real nice guy once you get to know him. Once he helped me finish an entire lab assignment the day it was due. He also keeps students awake by using humor in class

I used to love chemistry and he ruined it for me. He knows what he is talking about, but he cannot teach it. He makes you feel stupid by saying how easy everything is when it is not. The online homework takes a very long time to do so be prepared to spend time on in. He does not do many example problems in classs so be prepared to teach yourself.

Lectures have a lot of needed information, even if they can be boring. However, he is super approachable and a really good person in general. If you get on his good side it can help you a lot in class.

he is the most unorganized professor i have ever had. feels like he doesnt like the subject hes teaching. he never comes to class prepared. he basically read off his unorganized powerpoint in lecture. believe me, you cant study for exams from his powerpoints. if you value the money you paid, take the class with a different teacher if you can

exams, lectures, homework, labs are NOT relevant. exams weight 60% of your grade, but most of the materials on the exams are not from the homework, lectures and labs, so you cant really study for the exams. he does a very poor job on explaining the materials, when ask to clarify a concept, he dodges and says, well talk about it but will never do

Let's do some math on the grading. Homework is about 12% of your grade, labs are about 15%, and exams are 60%. He's an awesome professor, but he's a strict grader and the exams are all about understanding the material. However, sometimes he does give students second chances, or gives you a grade curve, depending on your grade.

Charismatic and humorous but also very focused and thorough in his lectures. He makes labs much more fun than you would expect and is very approachable. Assigns a lot of homework and lab reports are lengthy, but everything is done for your understanding and is done with commitment. Entire class is put on a bell curve.

In order to get a good grade for this class be precise when writing lab reports, do all of the online homework and text book reading (which didn't take long at all), and take clear and thorough notes in class. The best thing you can do for this class is over all don't give up. he does grade pretty hard but can tell if you're working for it.

Really hard class. Came to class every time but the only reason I passed was thanks to the book and online Youtube videos... Im a straight A student and go my first ever F on an exam. Also, I did horrible on the other exams and I was above average. Don't recommend at all, unless you want to get stressed out.

He gives good lectures but they are not in-depth enough and he has a very monotone voice, so you will probably get bored. Attendance is not mandatory, and all of the things you'll learn from his lectures you can learn from the homework he gives online. Tests are fairly difficult and the final is 90 questions, also pretty difficult. He's funny too.

His lectures are not bad to go to, the problem is that he does not teach what the tests or labs are on. And for a lower level class he is way to difficult with everything. Only sometimes he helps, often he says to students, "well you should have been prepared" but he did not teach us very well. frustrating.

Takes his time explaining topics which can be both helpful and dreadfully boring. Some of the stuff he talks about in class is pointless and over explained. Very helpful and can be funny, usually just cheesy jokes. He will learn your name and know at least one thing about you by the end of the semester. Tests are very hard.

Dr. Dvorak was a great professor in my opinion. I often found myself looking forward to his lectures and what hilarious stuff he would come up with. He is the MASTER of analogies, and will use many during every lecture. I found these to be immensely helpful in making more difficult concepts more clear.

Don't take dvorak if you have a choice. Gets sidetracked easily and talks about his personal life during lectures. Does not explain concepts well. Dodges questions when asking for clarity. I didn't learn anything last semester from him, I always had to seek help from other professors tutors.

We had four tests and a final all semester. This made tests hard if you just started studying the week before the test. At the beginning of the semester, we were told we could buy a book that would greatly help us on the final, because the final is written by the ACS, NOT by the prof. Buy this book, it's roughly $30, and will help like crazy.

I knew coming into this class it was going to be difficult. I feel if I would have had a different professor, I would have done better for sure. The material is really tough, not an introductory chemistry class whatsoever. You teach yourself, really! Dr. Dvorak was not too helpful and was intimidating. But he does curve everything well at the end.

In lectures he goes off in tangents about his personal life, or whatever is on his mind at that second. The lectures rarely expand on anything in the book. Lots of internet homework, almost every day. And if you don't understand what the book had to say don't expect to pass the homework. Labs aren't explained either. Just what is said in the manual

Dvorak does not work with those who don't understand some concepts. He makes you feel dumb if you do not have the answer to a question that YOU'VE asked him. If you have no history in Chemistry, better fasten your seat belt.

Comment:
Dvorak's lectures have NOTHING to do with anything that will be on the exams that he gives. It's all reading out of the book, and a lot of teaching yourself. Lectures are a great time to catch up on sleep or any other homework because there's truly no point in attending the lectures. Labs are decent, but explanation isn't very clear.
