Dr. Brikman's lectures are a pleasure; he uses his real world experience to provide context, and encourages group discussion. Places emphasis on design before putting code to screen. Deadlines are generous if you don't procrastinate, and doing the extra credit bits makes your life much easier as the projects become more complex.

Comment:

Taken Brikman several times. Same class over and over again, just different material. A few labs and a few assignments all done in your IDE. No HW. The programs ask of you are difficult and he answers your questions with another question - like getting a pop quiz. Good news is that you can always resubmit during or after semester. No late penalty.

Great Professor, the accent is a bit hard to get used to but overall he is amazing. I knew nothing of Java going in and learned so much in his class. He was extremely helpful in the lab, helping with coding and answering all questions.

As I take a lot of time to learn on my own the class was fairly easy. You may not always understand what he says at first but if you think about it for a minute it is always great advice. I like the way he teaches because it is how you would learn it outside of a school. Overall a good teacher and a good guy with lots of funny stories and facts.

Take him ONLY if you've already got a background in Comp Sci and want some review. Definitely not a class structured for beginners. You'd have to see/email him outside of class if you're a newbie looking to pass. Nice guy with silly jokes here and there, attendance not countet, puts Powerpoints online, but still nigh impossible for a beginner.

He know a lot and has so much experience to share. However his explanations are perfect for programmer rather than student. As for me he is very easy but only because I worked as programmer full time for 5 years. I actually challenge him with questions :). Just don't sleep during his lectures and you do just fine.

Class is very hard if you are not a comp. sci. major. he is very hard to understand. dont need to show up to class. you teach yourself almost everything. assignments are pretty hard if you dont know whats going on. i noticed all the computer science majors in the class did great everyone else did pretty awful. i had to withdraw

I spent most of my time in this class asleep, or I wasn't there at all. He didn't really cover the subject in depth and the homework was irrelevant to the text. I retook the course again, and did better just by learning the stuff on my own.

He is very hard to understand but he knows everything about Java. Labs and assignments have to be done to his expectations and his write ups need to be detailed in order to get full credit. But you don't have to go to his lecture class i only went to about 4 or 5 and he still gave me a good grade
