Comment:

Most professors I've had at FS are great. Mahadev is a notable exception. His most defining quality is his laziness. Cancels class or finishes 30 min early often. Unprepared, works on his own error-prone code during class. Easy A. But supplement your education with outside sources. Unsure if he has tenure, but that would explain his approach.

His accent can make it hard to understand him, but he's a really good professor if you put in the work. Most of his class was open notes/open book, so as long as you kept up with your notes it wasn't hard pass.

Terrible teacher. Does not explain concepts what so ever. Blames the class for "not trying hard enough", when he does not explain concepts at all. Gets angry at students for asking questions that he thinks we should inherently know the answers to, even though the material hasn't been covered yet.

Comment:

My classmate does a better job teaching than he does, just from an AP CS class they took previously. He is using an online textbook that makes future referencing VERY difficult, and when it's CS that's mandatory. Hard to understand, condescending, confrontational, skips class to go to meetings and lunch with friends (not kidding, saw it myself).

Overall he's a great teacher, if you have questions he usually explains it better he responds to your emails quick and he cares for his students and try to help clear any misunderstandings. Maybe he might seem kinda mean but he just wants you to learn your own way instead of always getting an easy answer.

Yells at people for trying to get the work done, when all he writes on the board are literally things found in the textbook. Why he doesn't want people getting their work done and instead wants them mindlessly copying down his confusing lecture is beyond me. His accent is hard to understand and his attitude is condescending. Avoid at all costs.

This guy taught me in my first java class and i understood it but i took this class with him and i started hating coding. I wouldn't recommend taking him as he believes in the do it yourself method and doesnt help you at all.

I had this teacher for both CSC I and CSC II. READ THE BOOK! class is slightly jumbled and if you struggled in CSCI beware because CSCII is a direct continuation. Alright guy, doesn't joke around. He can be condesending when you ask for help. Sucks/unfair because he's the only teacher available for these courses as of now.

I am in currently in this professor's Intro to Computer Science course and he told us out front that people who didn't know some material might have a hard time. I have had experience in the past and am still having a difficult time. I find his lectures to be boring and easy to fall asleep.

Great guy and loves what he teaches. Knowledgeable and engaging and if you pay attention you will get everything. He keeps the class going with lab assignments and out of class coding problems. Uses class time to go over code examples with the class. All and all it kept my attention and I learned a lot.

Computer Science 1 - teaches what is needed to be known in lecture. Condescending to students who don't get it. DO NOT share code with other classmates - if code is too similar, he will give you a 0 on the assignment and call it cheating. Quizzes and final all on blackboard and open book, but you have to come to class to take them. Didn't like it.

This guy was amazing. He knew what he was teaching and was able to cover material fast. The course itself required basic knowledge, and if you knew what you were supposed to you learned a ton taking his course. If you didn't know what you were supposed to, the class might have seemed difficult, but he was always there outside of class for help.
