Comment:

No writing, just quizzes. Read every word of the text, supplemental readings and watch the lectures a couple times. The info repeats itself enough that you will remember it if you do all this. After the last quiz she added points for evry1 w/o warning, to ensure ppl passed. I think she shouldve let ppl earn the grade they got.

Comment:

The class was pretty straightforward, all quizzes and tests. However, I have accommodations which she was sort of rude to me about. I ended up failing because I was too anxious to ask to use my accommodations again.

There was always extensions on quizzes so the people who slacked off and waited until after the original deadline got more time to study without any points taken away. If youre going to give extensions do it before things are do. Also most of what you learn isnt about the art of Egypt its 99% history of Egypt and 1% art. Im an art major lady.

The course was very well laid out in the syllabus, so I knew exactly what to expect. I took thorough notes for every lecture (pausing when necessary) and read all the supplemental reading material. The professors voice is extremely soothing. She knows a great deal, and I learned a lot. I respect her passion for the subject. Would take again.

Dr. Serwint is a great professor, she's extremely knowledgable but very kind and will help you with any questions you have. But for the love of god, PLEASE do not put off your research paper till the last minute like I did, work on it all semester! I ended up getting a B because I didn't leave myself enough time to throughly proofread!!

Dr. Serwint is an amazing professor, she's knowledgable but doesn't look down on you for not knowing certain things, unlike other professors I've had. She really cares that you do well in the class and will give you a bunch of tips to make sure you do well and get a good grade! I've taken her art of Egypt class as well and the lectures were great

Nancy is very passionate and her lectures were very interesting! She posts her powerpoints online so it is not essential to always be present. There were 3 quizzes and 3 tests. She tells you what you need to study for. She also offered extra credit all throughout the semester. You don't need to read the textbooks to pass, just the powerpoints.

This class was online and even if I watched all the lectures and wrote down every little thing, I still missed many questions on the exams. No extra credit, which was a bummer. I didn't need the book at all (didn't help with the tests, never quizzed on reading material).

Comment:

Nancy is a total sweetheart and you can tell she has fun teaching! There was reading, but I never did it and it wasn't on the tests. Pay attention in her lectures (she even boxes important points in her slides so you know what to remember) and actually study for the tests and you'll do very well. I would definitely take another class with her.

Nancy is a total sweetheart. She is very knowledgeable about ancient art, and she's extremely helpful. You do have to study for her tests, and the quizzes are difficult, but as long as you attend lectures you're fine. FYI, she DOES upload the power points, but she takes the text out, so you can't miss classes without missing content.

She's interesting and fair. Anyone who puts minimal effort in this class will still pass and still learn a lot. The only way to not do well is to not put any effort in the class. Her quizes are hard, but not worth many points, and the tests are multiple choice.

Dr. Serwint was the best Art History professor I had while at ASU. Her courses focus more on archaeology which I found to be extremely fascinating, especially if you have an appreciation towards architecture. She wants you to succeed and do well!

Nancy is absolutely the best professor I've had. She knows a TON, so sometimes lectures can feel rushed, but if you actually pay attention you're fine- and if you ask questions or ask her to elaborate further, she always does so. She is always willing to meet with you, and wants your your success.

Nancy is incredibly smart and has a lot of really interesting information, but as far as TEACHING that information, she can be really frustrating. I believe that in college you should be challenged, but I felt that Nancy bordered on unfair and rude. I didn't feel that she was really interested in our success as much as she wanted to flaunt hers.

Comment:

Nancy Serwint is one of the best professors at ASU, and is the best Art History professor. I have had her for 4 classes and have found every one of them to be interesting and sources of inspiration for my own art -she shows brilliant slides. Don't give any credence to what that person, who obviously got a bad grade, has written about Dr. Serwint.

Comment:

Don't take any classes that this woman teaches. A lot of the questions that are on the tests are ones that are not gone over during the lectures. The TA she used was very desrepectful and full of herself.Neither one of them had a positive attitude and didn't want to help students outside of the classroom.

Even if you show up to every class and write down every word she says and ever word on the powerpoints, there's always a couple questions on the tests about topics that appeared nowhere in her lectures. A lot of outside reading. TA was useless.
