Professor Lavender is truly an amazing! His lectures can be drying but he tells a lot of stories to keep you interested. He's very knowledgeable. The group projects are easy as long as everyone puts in the effort. The Exams can be tricky and the study guide doesn't cover everything but read the book and pay attention and you'll be fine

By far one of the most influential and informational teachers I had ever had. The course is built on 3 major, in class tests and a few labs/quizzes online so make sure you take solid notes and study hard for the tests. Breaks up the long lectures by telling cool, personal stories of people and situations he has encountered over the years. Great guy

Professor Lavender was the GREATEST professor I have ever had at OCC, (I have had really amazing professors too!). His lectures were so interesting, informative, and you learn so much. The paper was an easy A if you wrote over 10 pages and actually read the book! I cannot wait to take him again. I highly recommend him!

If you enjoy psychology, you will enjoy this class. I had him for Abnormal Psychology and Child Psychology and if I could, I would take it again with him. There is a ten page book report but as long as you can pull apart a book it is an easy A. Just pay attention and take notes!

Professor Lavender was truly a pleasure to have for psychology. He is an actual psychologist and has real clients, so he has a story to every single bullet of his powerpoints, which kept me engaged during lectures. Overall grade consists of 3 tests(multiple choice only), 3 group projects and open-book quizzes. Read the book and you'll get an A.

He is a great teacher. He does give a lot of lectures, too many of you ask me. Thats what all of his classes are. He does all of the talking. Do not miss a test because you will have to make it up at the end of the semester and its very annoying and frustrating. Only fault about how class

Lectures were great, his tests on the other hand were difficult. The study guide given never really matched up to what was on the in class test's. So a lot of extra reading and self testing is a must to pass. His online quizzes were a lot easier. For group projects, just partner up with others who also want to pass or you will get failing grades.

He's a great professor. Really funny stories, fulfilling lectures. For projects, his grading is very particular and a lot of the time, I would check my grades for my projects and be flabbergasted. I would get D's without an explanation, when I followed instructions correctly. Great professor, tough grader.

I've taken him for 271 and 174. He assigned a ten page minimum paper for both based on a book from a list in the syllabus. He really wants to make sure that you read and comprehended the text. He has three or four tests a semester, multiple choice, which are pretty easy. If you miss a test he has a cumulative at the end. He likes participation.

I really enjoyed this course and I thought Dr. Lavender was great. He gives you real world examples with every theory and therapy, which makes it more understandable. The course material itself was very interesting but Dr. Lavender gives it life. He has so much experience and he generously shares it with his class.

Professor Lavender is one of the best professors I have had at OCC. I have taken four psych classes and his is by far my favorite! I am in the midst of writing a ten page book report for his class and still cannot complain. Tests are easy if you study. Group work is just a few worksheets that you respond to in a lab type format. Highly recommend!

By far the best professor I've ever had! I've taken him three times and it's always worth it! He has years and years of experience in the psychology field so every class is interesting and fun. He gives three exams worth 20% each and a long book report that makes up 20% of your grade too, but if pay attention you'll do great and have fun too!
