He's a cute old man that's super smart. Knows tons about Russia and is so nice and humble. The class is kind of boring but besides a big paper and the end its easy. A few one page papers here and there but those are no biggy.

So Nick Hayes. He's kind of a character. Started out kinda weird, judged him cuz he liked The Great Gatsby, and he was unclear about assignment requirements; would say do things if you have time, then starts next class as though you have read it. In the end, he's one of my favorite profs cuz he really cares for his students and knows his stuff.

Nick is the best professor at CSBSJU. He is always there for his students and takes the time to get to know them. If you ever have a problem he is there to help you tackle it. He is genuine and wants his students to succeed. He is a great professor and a great man.

Prof is obviously very intelligent, and pushes his knowledge upon his students in class. Not a great lecturer, but keeps things entertaining enough. You won't have to read and the papers are not that difficult, so getting a good grade is pretty easy. Overall a pretty good prof.

Hayes is a very good prof. the class is laid back. a considerable amount of reading, but not strict about getting it done. very conversational class. huge name dropper. :) he is very willing to help you with whatever goals you have. an extremely enjoyable class.

Prepare for the most enjoyable class ever. I wish Nick Hayes taught every subject. Papers are short and few and far between. Every day was like sitting down for a stimulating chat with good friends. Nick Hayes loves to talk and I love to listen to him. Enjoy!!

Nick is absolutely brilliant... he's definitely tough, but he makes you a better writer. His class is the most enjoyable that I've had yet. If you have Nick's class, be in it to learn, because you're going to learn a lot about writing and thinking. Great guy.

He has a few quirks in mannerisms and teaching styles (it's kinda fun to watch for them every day, we made a game of it in my class), but overall he's just a really smart prof who likes to help his students get better. It wasn't my favorite class, but it was very helpful. My writing has improved dramatically since the beginning of the year.

I too had Nick for Honors FYS last semester, and he was excellent. My advice would be to get help on your papers from a fellow student who is familiar with his idea of good writing. Don't just rely on the comments he writes in the margins. Enjoy the class, because it can be a very enjoyable and intellectual class, if you indulge him :)

Nick as an amazing prof. He really cares about his students and is always there for help. My topic for FYS was really interesting. Nick has great stories. He comes off as arrogant, but you just have to laugh it off. If you write papers the way he wants you to, you'll do great. He'll make you into an excellent writer. I highly recommend him!

Nick is a nice guy, but he can be arrogant sometimes. He can be a tough grader, but if you write in the style he wants you'll do really well. He wants you to be a better writer and he'll help you.

Although he is a nice easy-going guy, he is very stuck on his opinion. If you do not agree with his thoughts, he will not give you a good grade on your papers. He is a very hard grader when it comes to writing and he is very hard to work wtih. It seems as though you are not a priority in his life, and he is a bad listener.

Nick is a great guy. He really wants his students to become better writers. Although his intentions are good, he still can be arrogant and often times unclear. He has a lot of funny quirks that make class interesting. A teacher that really respects his students.

Nick rattles on about the same topics. The class is Honors, which I expected be more broad; instead he really focuses on political science. It's very difficult for me to participate in class when I don't have any background in the things he talks about.More variety in class would be appreciated.

Nick is simply one of the most intelligent and intriguing professors on either campus. His style of teaching is relaxed yet on point; he really allows the students to take ownership over the class as he values peer teaching as well as professor to student learning. Great professor, great person!

One of the toughest graders for the written language I've ever seen! Very intelligent although somewhat arrogant. Worth taking for a class (his choice of subject material is almost inspired) but he's not too great as an academic advisor.
