Dr G. Is the realest one there is. He has tons of extra credit on every exam (15% extra) He does have a thick Ukrainian accent, so if you have trouble hearing make sure to sit close to the front. He finds importance in reaction colors and also samples from old tests & book questions. Read & Take note of demos. Make sure to participate if possible.

Unfortunately got stuck with him for my lab. He is difficult to understand at times. The lab is not always aligned with the lecture and he did not do a very good job of helping us understand what was going on. I simply wish the class was tailored more towards the student! Super easy just wish I did more than went through the motions to pass.

Dr. G puts serious emphasis on reading the book. Many test questions are pulled from the book. The courses he teaches are content-heavy, and you will move through chapters fast. He expects you to prioritize his course. Be ready. On a positive note, there is a huge amount of extra credit available every exam. Know your stuff, and you'll be rewarded.

He will lead you astray by saying certain topics will be on the test and then they are not. Know all the color changes of every reaction because for some reason this is very important to him. Sometimes it helps to read the book, but he will ask questions not covered in the book, homework or in lecture. He'll cover a lot of random stuff not tested.

Dr. G really wants to help and be there for his students. He is available for study sessions if you schedule beforehand. He doesn't show up to office hours unless you tell him you are going to be there. His tests are fine if you read the book. Seriously, read the book! He isn't the most organized but has a lot of knowledge that he wants to share.

Dr. G made the lectures less boring, he showed models and demos quite often. He was very helpful and always available for study sessions and during offices hours. Going through the textbook and handouts were necessary for passing this class. He shows that he really wants his students to understand the materials so don't hesitate to ask.

EXTREMELY tough teacher. One of the hardest A's I have ever had to work for. Class was recently restructured based on advice from the previous classes and he introduced weekly quizzes which the class average on was 5 out of 10 from a group of over-achieving chemistry majors. Study hard, study as a group, and great ready to learn more than ever.

Dr. G was pretty awesome. Be prepared to work a lot in his class though, read the book and memorize chemistry of the elements (who'd have though you should do that in a chemistry class?). Definitely go the extra mile and get yourself set up with lots of extra credit early on because it only gets harder, but he's always available to help.

Tests are difficult, but the lecture is interesting. Study ALL of the old tests; he reuses questions. Definitely memorize reactions of the elements. His extra credit questions will save your grade.

Doesn't give you help during lab, just tells you that you did something wrong and to read the lab manual. Doesn't explain the things we did in lab very wel, just expects you to know what's going on.

I don't think anyone cares quite so much for his students than Dr. G. He has extremely high expectations, but if you shoot to meet them, you are guaranteed to learn an incredible amount! He'll go way far out of his way to meet with you or to hold help sessions. He wants you to succeed. Don't squander your chances! Seek him out! He wants to see you!

Grade doesn't imply comprehension in this class. You should read if you want to learn, but be warned, it barely helps for the exams. Memorize the small Oxford spectroscopy book. It's condensed, very useful material! Also is a major source of test questions. Homework is extremely hard! Should team up- seriously..

This is a week long intersession class - Scientific Glassware and Simple Glassblowing. While working with glass is frustrating, Dr. G is very helpful. He cares about your progress and will help you get your skills where they need to be. His stories are great and you will still learn chemistry in this class.

I took Dr. G's 515 class which is the same as 375, just for graduate credit and you have to write a paper of his choosing. Dr. G is one of the best chemistry professors in the dept. He is so passionate about chemistry. He does WAY more than he needs to, to make sure we succeed.
