Comment:

Smart and a good lecturer. However, gives out ridiculously bad grades for no reason. Maybe its bc she's the dept. chair and wants polisci to be taken more seriously. During OH she doesnt answer questions, just tells you to go back into book. Also takes 2+ months to grade quizzes. Do not take her class if you want a good GPA. Ruined my semester.

Comment:

Professor Moore is an insanely smart human being, and she gives amazing lectures. That said, her class is pretty hard. In some regards, she is a hardass; but she also cares about her students and is always happy to go over material or just talk politics in general. The hardness of her class is made up for by how interesting it is.

Don't take any course with this professor. Unrealistic expectations of students is the best way to describe this professor. The material is not difficult and the only reason people don't do well in the course is due to the professor handing out bad grades.

Would not take her class again but she cares about her students. The class may seem it is evenly split between quizzes, midterm, and final, but she makes quizzes hard/doesn't give enough of them so midterm and final count for almost all of your grade. If you want to do well in the class just study heavy for midterm/final and do extra credits.

Comment:

Professor Moore is great. All her lectures are fun and exciting. I learned a lot from America as a Democracy and Professor Moore is soooooo nice and funny. If you take good notes, you will do well on her tests because they are basically identical. I recommend taking this class.

BEWARE. Least professional teacher I have ever had at Colgate. Terrible, especially for non-PCONs. I came into the class extremely excited, she squelched my enthusiasm. She has policies which she enforces when she feels like it. A student got 5% off his FINAL GRADE the second day of class for saying 2 words. She's smart, but a bad teacher.

Comment:

Professor Moore is awesome. Although I really had no interest in the subject matter of the class and dreaded lectures, I had a lot of respect for Moore and how knowledgable she was. She made a big class feel small and was always open to our opinions. She let us have a lot of autonomy in deciding how the midterm and final worked. Also funny.

Incredible teacher, really knows her stuff and how to convey it well onto her students. Definitely recommend going to class although you could probably get away without it. Very rough grader, I even rewrote my midterm paper and my grade went down, but extra credit is easy and worth it.

Moore is the best. I loved her enough to make her my advisor and is the sweetest, funniest prof in the department. She is definitely challenging, however will tell you EXACTLY what you need to know to succeed. She often gives you the prompts prior to the tests and quizzes. She wants you to do well in her class!

Prof. Moore is engaging, smart, and interesting. She's very clear and she keeps class moving along so you don't lose interest. She doesn't assign any homework and basically gives you all the answers to the quizzes ahead of time. I recommend her to people interested in politics but not looking to take a super involved class.

In America as Democracy she is pretty cool, you dont really need to show up to class. Midterm was really easy, she tells you when the pop quizzes are going to be... readings are semi-necessary. Not to hard a class, especially if you took AP Gov.

She let me into her class as a freshman (gave me a chance, which I highly appreciated) and guided me through the research project. The lectures were intense and there was a lot of work, but she's a very kind person. Go to her office hours, she's unbelievably helpful! I highly recommend taking her class because you'll grow intellectually.

I was terrified when I read the other reviews, but I loved her class. She's an incredibly engaging lecturer, I had a really easy time with the exams and papers, she's a really fair and understandable grader and great during office hours. Highly highly recommend.

Professor Moore is a great professor who does a clear job in teaching. You don't have to do the readings, just take good notes. Attendance isn't mandatory but you need good notes to do well on exams. Exams aren't that difficult if you do a good job writing a paper.

She's a really difficult grader, but she is helpful and sweet and an incredible lecturer. TAKE THIS CLASS if you want to understand more about political science, especially with Nina Moore. She's the one who made me want to become a poli. sci. major, even though I was never interested in high school.

Because of Prof. Moore I'm seriously thinking about majoring in poli sci now. I love coming to this class everyday. For real She makes you actually care and even stay up on the news. I was scared at first but then I and pretty much everybody in the class did great on the midterm. I already registered for her fall class on the courts. Can't wait!
