Comment:
This is the worst teacher/professor I've had in my whole life. She is disrespectful to students & interrupts and ignores many. She isn't understanding or helpful. If you decide to take this class, you need to pay attention to due dates as she won't announce when things are due & do ALL the study guides. Honestly avoid taking this class if you can.

This professor is very rude and insensitive with her commentary. I've been in her class for less than two months and she has already made almost everyone feel uncomfortable. She is not organized which makes it difficult to be successful in her class because nothing is ever explained fully.

This instructor does not grade quizzes/tests accurately. Make sure to double-check all of her answers against yours. I literally caught her marking 25 of my answers wrong out of 50 (F grade), when only 4 were wrong (A grade), after I checked her key against my quiz. Once other students found out, they checked their 'wrong' answers & found the same!

Theres no test or quizzes, but theres 4 study guides which are basically small quizzes. You do need the book & course packet. She calls you out about anything and comes right when the class starts. She talks a lot about herself and the plays shes done. Dont be late or miss a class!! You have to participate too. 3 group projects, and 1 final exam

Watch out! This class is full of microaggressions/explicit unprofessionalism. For being a communication teacher, she's a very bad communicator and rigid in her ways. Loves to talk about herself and her acting. Offers extra credit that isn't accessible to everyone. It was a very bad experience for me and I wouldn't recommend it. Avoid it if you can.

She was a poor teacher .. very unclear on assignments and I agree there was a inconsistency with book and study guides she never goes over answers and being absent will destroy your grade . I also received an a but learned nothing smh not a good professor

I expected to be more engaged through lecture and discussion. This felt more like a public speaking class. Required to dress business casual for 3 presentations ... I get that for a basic class, but I wanted more depth from 135. There were inconsistencies between the study packet and the text editions that caused confusion.

Comment:
For a comms professor her own communication skills are lacking. Doesn't explain her requirements for assignments very well, often resulting in points deducted because she didn't take time to get into the details. She's a stickler for attendance/participation & will take points off even if you yawn or don't look "present". Not very approachable.

Missing class lowers your grade and puts you at risk of failing. She likes assignment to be just how she asks. She gets confused with her own lectures. Often interrupts students. Textbook is needed for the study guides but would recommend sharing or renting. Extra credit is available but involves transportation and money.

Her class is extremely easy as long as you follow her guidelines and show up to class. When you have questions, she sometimes can't answer them clearly. She also sometimes gets confused by her own lectures. If you want an easy A, then I would take this class! She is a funny lady and as long as you participate you will get an A.

Her class was very easy! IF you do all the work. I recommend you renting the textbook OR sharing! You just need the textbook to do your study guides. Most study guides are 40-50 questions(YOU HAVE A LOT OF TIME DO THEM!)You do a total of 4 speeches. You must do all 4 to pass the class. VERY EASy & I'm in high school. Junior.

She has a very strong attitude & personality. But she knows what shes talking about. once you get past her being so picky you will be fine. not every teacher is going to be easy. people are obviously having trouble adjusting to the college life. Learn how to deal with hard situations.if this is just a ge of course it will be boring but make the best

This class is not an easy A,if you do everything the way she asked then the grading isnt too bad. But she finds ways to deduct points for minute mistakes. The class itself isnt that bad, there are no tests only study guides, 4 speeches. In my opinion she is intimidating.

I could go on forever with the negativity that we all have experienced being a student of this "Unprofessional Professional". I couldn't believe the way this woman would look at and speak to people. God Bless Her. Avoid Professor Elmore Costa she has more ways to fail you then see you succeed.

Ok, where do I start. For you that are searching, YES, this professor now teaches at San Diego Mesa. She is extremely hard to follow. If you are shy she will destroy your confidence. She makes the most distracting facial expressions during your speech. When teaching, explaining, or giving criticism, she is very condescending. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!

Definitely one of the stranger professors Ive had. Quite a few students got into it with her over the semester but I simply applied a lesson picked up while in the military and just "played the game" with her. Pay close attention to what she wants you to do/say/wear for the assigned speeches while ignoring all of her b.s. and you will be fine...

Not a bad teacher once you get past her personality. If you get caught up in her drama, it makes the class 10x harder. She focuses on speeches. You will do 5 speeches (4 plus extra credit) and there is no midterm. No quizzes. Instead you will do take-home study guides. Double standard when it comes to tardies. Don't be late or absent.
