Comment:
Professor Jacobs is dedicated to his students' success and is accessible outside of class. He explains concepts really well and stops after each concept to make sure students understand the concept. He always goes over the homework which is very helpful for studying for exams. With this professor, I was not afraid to ask questions for clarification

His lectures are at a nice pace and he really does a nice job pointing out important information when lecturing. He is very knowledgeable about accounting and makes class very fun!

He lectures at a slow pace for you to understand and he always interrupts his lectures after each concept to see if the concept makes sense. His notes on a blackboard are nothing like what he writes on the board, his lectures do not follow the textbook for every single chapter and he makes the tests much more difficult than the homework problems.

This class is hard, but a requirement for business majors. The chapters are long & if you don't read them, you probably won't pass. Tests are short but tough & there's homework almost everyday. Makes the curriculum as clear as possible, but it's still hard to grasp without studying.

Comment:
His tests will be ridiculous because he puts stuff in that were never covered in homework assignments and he will purposely add random numbers just to throw you off. He offers no extra credit and his lectures or extremely boring. Its easier to just stay home and study the material yourself, you will learn just as much (if not more).

He is a great teacher, accounting subject is obviously a tough one to understand if you are not interested in it. He explains material in a logical manner and goes at a great speed. He's well prepared for every class and has specific material he wants to go over. If you go to class you should be fine and take notesdo the homework!

Comment:
These negative reviews are because people have an issue with the class, not the professor. For any business major, including marketing, Financial Accounting is a required course. The material is difficult and requires substantial work to master does not mean the professor is at fault. Jacobs teaches this class effectively and concisely.

He is very intelligent and knows his stuff but is not a great professor. Class is very difficult, dreadful to sit through, and a big work load. He offers little points so NO room to screw up. Gives homework everyday that he goes over. Exams are terrible! DO NOT GET BEHIND! I do not recommend this class if you are not an accounting major!

Comment:
Lectures are extremely boring, very monotone. Gives many redundant hw assignments that are counted as a grade. Makes the class much harder than it needs to be. The tests are very long sometimes I had to struggle to finish before the end of class. Can be very unclear and "disagrees" with the authors of the book on many occasions.

If you miss one thing on the test you're in big trouble .. Does not go over all subjects that you will be tested on clearly. Lectures are very hard to stay awake through in class (very monotone) goes through 2-3 chapters per lecture therefore not allowing to understand the material he is trying to teach. Asked for help and got none.. bad teacher

Im an accounting major and this teacher was one of the most fair professors Ive taken. HOmework everyday but you get a few days to do it and he goes over it before you hand it in. Excellent teacher!

Very effective teacher. Extremely upfront and fair. Willing to work with you and has great office hours. The homework is reviewed daily and his tests are no cakewalk but he is such an effective teacher he gets you as prepared as anyone can. Income Tax I, it is a daunting course, but Jacobs is a very fair professor in his teaching style. Homework is always carefully gone over before turned in, tests are open book open note, and he is willing to meet in his office hours if you ever have extra questions. I am glad I took this course, and I feel my understanding of the topic has broadened

First accounting class and now I love it. Lots of book use (And BOY is it HEAVY). Easy tests and he really tells you flat out what is on them. He is smart and knows what he is talking about and even gives you hints to help you remember things. Final was a little difficult, but it was cumulative.

Excellent teacher. He explains the material so well that you never need to read the book, just show up and take notes. Says "In terms of what we've got" about 30 times a day, but that's all. Homework is an easy grade because he provides a solutions manual and it boosts your grade if you need it.

Since we are rating teachers not subjects, he is definitely as good as it gets when it comes to Accounting. He is an expert in his field, and also excellent at teaching the material. I was astonished at how well he explains what could otherwise be difficult material. Also throws in some comic relief here and there. Come to class & u will do well
